This is what I was curious about. I was there in my full orange getup so everyone knew who I was rooting for. On the basis of that moment alone, I would reccommend this movie to everyone.
That's part of the reason I'm a little iffy about seeing it. Spending good money to watch my favorite team in the world wear the black hat. . . eh. I'd rather fire up Paper Lion.
Marshall did beat Xavier in game two. The next week, Miami beat them in that endlessly controversial 66-6 game. In the next-t0-last game of the season, the Falcons became Marshall's only other victim.
I expect they had to have townfolk pump up Bowling Green a little to pump up the drama. That said, the Falcons weren't bad in '71. 6-4, with some pretty gaudy scores:
