Wow...that's a little odd. Sucks to lose interior depth like that. If the talk about Thomas James is true, the recruiting class that signed in 2005 is getting pretty thin.

Well, none of them were on the final two-deep depth chart, so I don't know how big a loss this is. But the fact that all three are transferring together seems odd. That seems to tell me that they all seem to think they can play, but something at BG wasn't right. Coaching? Players in front of them? Atmosphere? ???

We're going to feel these losses big time in a year or two. Line depth is becoming a big problem. It takes time to get MAC lineman up to weight.

Who knows why they left. I have a pretty good idea why, but only hearsay evidence. It's a shame we're losing all these guys.

My personal opinion is these kids are a bunch of pu**ies. If they want to quit when things seem tough, so be it. But their pu**ies! Instead of facing your problems head on and MAYBE working a little harder to attain their goals and rise in the depth chart, they decide to quit. Let 'em go. Hope they enjoy playing AA ball.

You simply cannot afford too many "misses" in recruiting. 3 linemen in one class is enormous. This is similar to the gutting the previous recruiting classes absorbed that caused us to be in the position to play so many true freshmen.

The coaches must do a better job of targeting players who fit what they're looking for and not continue to squander scholarships in this manner.

Recruiting is a big part of the game, but so is player retention and development.

I realize depth and size are an issue, but with Nystrom out, we had two sophs at LT and a FR at LG on the two-deep. We just need to recruit two or three or four good linemen every year. We actually had 7 OL in the 2005 class. These two are leaving and Minturn has been switched to def. Pollard, Buckosh and Steffy are still around, but I don't know what happened to Solak. At any rate, we still have three OL from this class around. That seems about how you would like it to shake out. Three OL from each class, with a redshirt year, should mean you have 15 OL on the roster, 12 that dress each week. We should be able to make do with that, IMO.

Williamson was a guy that I though could have been playing DT. He played the position in HS and he'd finally give falconboy that 300+ lb guy there

Yep, they're pussies. Just like Ron Lewis, Scott Vandermeer, Erik Crawford, Raheem Moss, etc, etc.

The difference between a good coach and what we have is that a good coach knows how to get his players to realize how much work it takes to excel. They make the kids WANT to work their rearends off.

The coaches we have realize that winning takes hard work, but they seem to fail in getting that across to the players in a way that makes them willing to put the work in. So we either get players that stick around and find creative ways to circumvent working hard, or we have players leave the program.

Are you going to tell me that Ron Lewis doesn't have to work nearly as hard at OSU for Thad Matta as he did here for Dan Dakich? These guys are not leaving because they're pussies. They're leaving because they don't want to put in the work for what seems to be a lost cause.

According to the Sagarin ratings, no fewer than 28 AA teams were rated ahead of us. BG was rated 139, EIU was 148. Seems like a pretty lateral move if you ask me.

I would like to see who all has left w/ their postion & year, with a seperate section for who "might" leave as well and by might I mean its been rumored that they are leaving. It sure seems like a lot of players are leaving and I want to get my story straight when I tell my friends how many have left!

Maybe I was a little harsh in the pussies comment, but it made my point. I guess it might be a little more constructive to call them quitters. They quit on the team. They didn't like the position they were in and instead of working for it they decided to take the easy road out and transfer. They were all players that were young and probably thought they deserved some PT, especially since the team looked desperate for any spark. They didn't get that and decided it was a losing cause to stick on the team. Yes, some is probably coaching, but a lot more is about commitment and working hard to attain your goal of becoming a starter and a better athlete. But, this is just my opinion as nobody knows the real reasons. We can only speculate.

Right you are. Doesn't have to be in sports. Could be a band director, or a boss, or a CO.

Question is, did you ever have somebody who you would run through a brick wall for? That's what it means.

And if you did: how'd you feel at the end of the day? Like you couldn't wait to get back? Exactly.
