Seriously, how the hell is he even in consideration!

We could see the all-steroid class...belle, conseco, mcgwire, buhner =)
And Caminiti could be the "bartender" for that group, right? ;-)

Last I heard BGSU doesn't just "give" out the diplomas....if he didn't finish his requirements, he won't graduate. If his situation is true, it's pretty sad.....

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I have a piece of paper that begs to differ....

But yeah, it's pretty poor of him, and having heard it from at least two people who "would know", I have to think it's unfortunately true.

BGSU does "just give away" degrees. Well, honorary diplomas. See Scott Hamilton for the best example I can think of.

Hershiser is officially off the Hall of Fame ballot. Orel only received 4.4% of the vote, but needed 5% to remain on the ballot for future years.

Here's the list of players that received less than 5% of the vote.

Orel Hershiser 24 (4.4%), Albert Belle 19 (3.5%), Paul O’Neill 12 (2.2%), Bret Saberhagen 7 (1.3%), Jose Canseco 6 (1.1%), Tony Fernandez 4 (0.7%), Dante Bichette 3 (0.6%), Eric Davis 3 (0.6%), Bobby Bonilla 2 (0.4%), Ken Caminiti 2 (0.4%), Jay Buhner 1 (0.2%), Scott Brosius 0, Wally Joyner 0, Devon White 0, Bobby Witt 0.

3 people voted for Dante freaking Bichette? Looks like the thin air is really starting to affect some people out there.

Even more people voted for Tony Fernandez. Seriously.

In reading some other forums, people were saying they were surprised how many votes both Ripken and Gwynn got. If there are valid arguments on why either of them should not be in the Hall of Fame, I'd love to hear them.
