We played extremely hard but our Liz Honneger just couldt' get hot like she's known for and we came up short. Needless to say I"m elated , we get beat by only 9 to a team that is superior athleticly and size with Bales and who's beaten to a pulp every other ranked team they've played. I'm happy and excited for the rest of the season as we drive towards the NCAA Tourney once again.

I cannot even express how excited I am right now. This team is the real deal and I hope the whole country can see that now. Excellent game tonight and I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the season and (even though I'm getting ahead of myself) hopefully a win in the NCAA tourney.

Despite the loss, BG held Duke to 27 points below their season average. Outstanding defensive effort!

Same here. Can you believe that if we could've gotten Bales out on foules somewhere in that 2nd half its a whole new ball game? You take away the gigantic Bales for Duke and they practiclaly got nothin! Man, we came so close again to doing the unbelievable.

Nontheless, we gotta get back on the horse and pound Texas-Arlington tommorow at 7.

This game may be the difference that ratchets us up to a 5 or 6 seed come March. We had a huge opportunity with Duke having a rough night, and we could have pulled it off if we had hit some shots, but losing by only 9 was a very important step for this team. Our seeding is going to be measured against the Texas' and Rutgers' of the world, and they've been getting blown away by Duke.

Great effort -- hope they can take out some frustration on UTA tomorrow.

I'm just wondering how any MAC team is going to beat us this year.

A MAC team will beat the ladies if they get complacent. I don't think that's going to happen with the great group of Seniors we have.

Buckle up kids...this is going toi be fun.

BG could very well run the table again in the MAC> Amazing how freaking good this team really is...on an off night shooting and Kate with the flu? Bittersweet for sure...

No Mac team will beat BG, we will beat ourselves if we don't' bring it every game.

Along those lines, you have to think we have the most experienced team in the country by FAR. Combine that with a fiery coach and good luck trying to catch us sleeping. This needs to be the year we break through to that next level in March.

The way this team is going, especially after a game like tonight, and the way recruiting is shaping up, I see a very. very bright future for BG Women's Basketball and some fireworks in the MAC and NCAA tourneys.

Two things that I think just about everyone is over-looking here:

1.) Had Kate not had the flu? She had 10 in the first half and only 1 in the second. Imagine if she had been able to go the whole game. Even with a 102 temp. she was dominant in the first half.

2.) Had Liz had any kind of a stroke whatsoever, we win this game handily. It isn't often that Liz goes 0-12 and scores 0 in a game. I'm sure that Duke's D had something to do with this, but there must have been some other factor in play there - Liz is just too good.

If even one of these points had played out even slightly better, we're talking about a possible win or over-time.

These ladies have absolutely NOTHING to hang their heads about. I mean, we lost to Duke by less than half of their smallest margin of victory all year long, including Duke wins over Penn St., Michigan, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, and Texas.

We have a hell of a basketball team on our hands.

And by the way, holy crap was this game played in a ballroom:

Duke shot 45%, and we shot 29%.

We were only 8-27 from 3, including 0-10 by liz.

Liz and Carin were a combined 1-22 from the field.

You give me these 3 facts pregame, and I would have said we would lose by 40. This game was there for the taking. We played good on defense, and had our worst offensive game of the year by far. The fact that we had them on the ropes and didn't play anywhere near our best game is very encouraging for the tourney.
