Wow, no wonder it sounded so loud on the feed, that place is tiny and with the number of BG fans I heard were headed down, it makes sense now.Bleeding Orange wrote:And by the way, holy crap was this game played in a ballroom:
You have an awesome team.

It'll be interesting to see how they shoot tomorrow. I wonder if the small "gym" did something to their range. (The extreme opposite of teams needing to get used to shooting in a domed stadium, I guess.)

A pretty nice article with some quotes from Duke's official website:

There are a couple of editorial inserts in there that make the skin crawl a bit, but overall it is pretty good. Nothing of note up on BGSUFalcons.com yet.

It's the AP story. The original versions of it made it sound like BG was there and that's about it. "Duke, Duke, Duke. BG player had X points. Duke, Duke, Duke." Hell, the official stat sheet has the same #4/4 Duke vs. Bowling Green (no ranking listed) that gametracker had.Bleeding Orange wrote:A pretty nice article with some quotes from Duke's official website:

I like the "BG kept the game from getting out of hand in the first half" line... Um, they led for 7 minutes in one stretch, and it was back and forth early. "Out of hand"? Hardly. Actually, it never really got "out of hand". Duke pushed the lead past 6 or 7 and kept it there, but BG never went away.

I like the line in the PD today "BG managed to keep it close". WTF?? No respect but I guarantee you those on the Duke team know this BG team is the real deal. Duke had to fight for their lives to get out alive. Even if the media and "experts" won't admit it...
Like J4H said, Liz and Carin had horrible nights and Kate had the flu...we lost by 9. Decent shooting and Kate at full go? No doubt in my mind BG would have won.
Perhaps a rematch at the Q in April for the Final Four?
OUTSTANDING EFFORT, FALCONS!!!! BEAT UT-ARLINGTON TONIGHT!

Yeah, no kidding JH4. All we had to do was have Liz hit a few shots , Carin to hit a few more and if could've fouled out Bales, that game is ours. I think possibly Bales 6'7 hulking frame may've hurt Liz's ability to see the rim well and may have hurried shots to keep Bales from getting her long arms out and blocking her shot, as Liz does't have a very quick release.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Duke shot 45%, and we shot 29%.
We were only 8-27 from 3, including 0-10 by liz.
Liz and Carin were a combined 1-22 from the field.
You give me these 3 facts pregame, and I would have said we would lose by 40. This game was there for the taking. We played good on defense, and had our worst offensive game of the year by far. The fact that we had them on the ropes and didn't play anywhere near our best game is very encouraging for the tourney.
When Bales got her 4th foul, we should'a had Flynn out there taking Bales to the rack and we would've eventually fouled her out. But as we usually do , we end up chucking desperation 3's trying to force our touch back instead of working our way to the lane and drawing fouls on Duke. From what I remember, it seemed Bales absolutely could not handle Flynn off the dribble. It appears as though bad shooting % is at most what is dooming us these games vs elite competition ala UCLA game last year , where we were pretty good defensivly forcing alot of turnovers but couldn't hit the 3 at all and UCLA going nuts from 3. Our D is even better than I've realized. Its the thing that has given us chances , just need to get to better shooting %'s to follow.

figure this is as good a thread as any to say.....WOW. I was impressed with this group a year ago but y'all have a VERY special team this season. I hope the girls don't read this message board because their thoughts should be on the court rather than on the pats on the back (which from what I can tell is NOT any kind of an issue with this group).....but they are really beginning to remind me a LOT of the Kent St. men's team that made the run to the Elite 8 and missed the Final 4 only because they ran into an Indiana team that shot 73% from behind the 3 point line. The makeup of this team is so much like that team, it's scary. That season, Kent got their clocks cleaned a couple of times by decent teams early in the season but they kept growing and getting better. This BGSU Women's team has been ultra competetive against "better opponents" this season and what really makes me sit up and take notice, from the quotes I read from players and coaches, is that they don't realize, yet, just how good they are RIGHT NOW....they are not at all satisfied that they are as good as they can be and are focused on getting better. Folks, that's just plain old down to earth and shows a maturity level beyond their years.
It's a really great goal, for the fans, to want to win 1 game in the tournament this season.....that seems to be most of what I read here.....but buckle your seatbelts because I have a hunch (and I pray every night that my hunch is actual reality) that this team can make a very deep run in the Big Dance.......and it will NOT be a fluke if we see them in Cleveland. They really are THAT good!!!

Good post, man. I feel the same way. This team really is THAT good. Good analogy about the Kent men's team from a few years back.greg1 wrote:figure this is as good a thread as any to say.....WOW.
