Three star RB commits to BGSU
hammb - I see Barnes in the role you describe, kind of like we used Magner. Cole was a receiver, but he carried the ball a fair amound and was used for trick plays. I also agree that we'll see Bullock as the go-to guy with Ransom as a change of pace. Macon will have to step up and prove he deserves some carries in this scenario. He never seemed comfortable this year.

Why would we sign a Juco guy otherwise?Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Globetrotter wrote:The guy rushed for 697 yards at Trinity Valley State and you think he is going to force Macon out of the rotation? Macon rushed for 387 yards against Division I-A talent.
Ransom -- Best back in Juco Texas
Macon -- 4th best back in Bowling Green, Ohio
Tough choice.[/quote
If the guy was really that special why would he go to a team where the starting RB just was named Freshman All American?
You guys are downplaying Macon way too much.

As Billy Fucillo (for all NY residents) would say, this signing is HU-GE.
This offense desperately needs speed and elusiveness at the RB position, and Ransom ("Gimme Back My Son!") provides just that. Bullock is a fine power back but clearly seemed to wear down during the course of the game.
I also like that we're expanding our recruiting territory into the Texas JUCO system. We've had a disproportionate number of contributors come from the southern part of the country. Even Bullock himself is from Louisiana.

The coaches had a chance to improve needed RB depth and got it done. It is not a demotion to another player. It doesn't warrant bashing a player or coach, and it's not an opportunity to improve a posters insecurities.
Whether he becomes a starter, overtakes an injured player, returns kicks, or plays receiver, it's a great recruit. It sounds like he had some nice break away runs.

I agree with you...this is NOT the time to "badrap" any players currently on the team....do you guys want to lose even MORE? Would that make you happy? It seems to me that this verbal will actually take the place of Bobby Thomas, who looked pretty good last year, but is no longer in school, if I'm correct. So the depth at RB will be at least three deep...which any team needs.

I think it is utterly absurd to think that a JUCO Back we just recruited is better then Dan Macon. Macon at times showed flashes of solid ability. I love recruiting this guy, to put him over Macon on the depth chart before he puts on a jersey is absurd.BGFootball wrote:Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Why would we sign a Juco guy otherwise?Globetrotter wrote:The guy rushed for 697 yards at Trinity Valley State and you think he is going to force Macon out of the rotation? I think you're way off base. Nobody brings in a 3-star Juco transfer to be the third-string running back. He'll be competing with Bullock and the QB for carries, and Macon will get the dregs.

Great point. This allows us to use Barnes at WR....where we lacked depth.Class of 61 wrote:Maquisard, maquisard wrote:The coaches had a chance to improve needed RB depth and got it done. Touches....I am up for it. Lets do a real bet. pair of tickets in '08? Or we go to a game together and the other buys the tickets....We can not include returns tho.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Top 75 Juco guys aren't brought in to schools like BG to provide depth. They're brought in to play.
Barring injury, I'll eat 5 gabajillion bugs if Macon gets more touches than Ransom next season.
