I don't know why it was news, since I thought he already WAS on the practice squad, but it's mentioned again in today's transaction wire.
No mention of an allotment to NFL Europe, though, which was mentioned with some other teams' transactions.

Just a guess that they need to formally assign a practice squad for either the playoffs or to lock up guys for next year.TG1996 wrote:I don't know why it was news, since I thought he already WAS on the practice squad, but it's mentioned again in today's transaction wire.

Then why didn't they announce the signing of the entire practrice squad?Redwingtom wrote:Just a guess that they need to formally assign a practice squad for either the playoffs or to lock up guys for next year.TG1996 wrote:I don't know why it was news, since I thought he already WAS on the practice squad, but it's mentioned again in today's transaction wire.

A little Google Newsing doesn't say too much more than we know, except that Koy Detmer (who the Eagles signed to the game roster) figured he was out of the loop when he found out Omar signed to the PS.
They obviously want him around.

I can't help but think what may have happened had Omar come back for his SR year. Maybe nothing better than happened...maybe something better. I wish he would have stayed.Tswam wrote:According to the Eagles website, they released Omar from the practice squad. The new year starts and Omar's out of a job once again.

This is from the Eagles "Scout" Website. Maybe the Eagles are yet another team that didn't see enough potential in Omar to keep him around. Sad, but he might be running out of options as far as the NFL goes.Did you know? Once your favorite team's season ends, the eight players on your practice squad become "street" free agents if your team doesn't re-sign them within a week of their last game. So keep an eye on the transactions wire this week to see how many will be signed to a "future" contract for the 2007 season.

Even if he wouldn't have improved or possibly hurt his draft stock by staying with less recieving talent, at least he would have PLAYED. I think in hindsight, he probably wishes he had so he could've simply played meaningful football instead of watching it.Falconfreak90 wrote:I can't help but think what may have happened had Omar come back for his SR year. Its really hard to say. He would have been a great QB and gotten even better with more playing time. But he wouldnt have had anyone to throw to that was nearly as talented as Sharon, Pope, Sanders or anyone. Its a toss up. I think he woulda looked good on his own but his team wouldn't have helped him.Falconfreak90 wrote:I can't help but think what may have happened had Omar come back for his SR year.
