New verbal

Post by bg sports fan »

I just read on rivals.com about a kid who signed with us out of Coffeyville C.C. He is a OLB and his name is Jerrson Davis and stands 6'1 207 4.69. He got 30 inch vertical leap and picked us over Memphis.

Soler was out of Coffeyville. A very good JC basketball program.

The holiday "dead period" where no direct contact can be made with HS recruits ends today. We should start seeing more news now...

This sounds like a pretty decent signing. Hopefully he can play right away.

Well, he'd better. You don't sign JUCOs to ride the pines. If he's not a starter, he should at least be part of the regular playing rotation.

It seems like we're pulling in some nice JUCO talent, but I can't help but be mildly concerned with how often we're going that route now. JUCO guys can be quick fixes, but it's a dangerous way to try and build a program back up when it's relied upon too heavily.

I know, I know -- glass half empty. It's just one of those days.

I'm with ya. I'm not about to turn down a talented player that wants to come to BG, but it's not a good sign if we start relying on Jucos with any amount of consistency. The last thing we want to become is Temple .

One of my concerns is that we are going to have about 25 Jrs and 25 Sophs next year. Then in a couple of years when both these classes are gone, the cupboard will be bare because we relied so heavily on these two classes.
