For my money, I don't see how this game could live-up to the OSU-UM game. Even if UM fell on its face against USC, I don't expect the OSU-Florida game to live up to that. I'm not sure, even if its a great game, it can have the same qualities the last game did. That game lived up to the hype.

there is not much hype nationally. I think everyone believes OSU is going to win pretty easily. Thats what worries me. Everyone said the same thing about Maimi in '02 and oops OSU beat em. We'll see.
I do keep hearing on national radio sports talk shows how relaxed and calm OSU seems to be where the Florida players seem uptight and intense
Take that however you wish, but that tells me Florida is extremely nervous and it may show Monday night if they start off flat.

To play the Devil's advocate - perhaps this means that OSU is a bit over-confident and Florida is focusing on the task at hand and taking it seriously. Just to play the Devil's advocate, though...tekekini wrote:there is not much hype nationally. I think everyone believes OSU is going to win pretty easily. Thats what worries me. I'll watch it because CFB is almost over, and this is one of my last chances to see it. But I'll be happy no matter who wins, and this game will do nothing to clear up who the best team is.

I think that is a great point, and it seems to be lost on many OSU fans I have spoken with. When I was in Ohio for the holidays I was mentioning the 2002 game and how Miami was the no-brainer a few 'fans' I was talking with just looked through me like I was speaking broken Russian.tekekini wrote:there is not much hype nationally. I will watch. I will be rooting for Florida and am excited to see what Urban has put together for this game. Living in SEC country I hear about the conference all the time and managed to watch a majority of Gators games this season, I feel like I know them better than I know Ohio State and am looking forward to watching the game.

The following came out of the USA Today
Media take Saban to task over Alabama job
Hold on. Coaches dissemble about jobs all the time. Just ask Larry Brown. Urban Meyer was tagged "Urban Liar" by fans for jumping from Bowling Green to Utah to Florida. So what is it about Saban that led sportscasters to paint him as the worst liar since Bill Clinton or Richard Nixon?

My feelings exactly. I wish him well and hope he succeeds (i enjoy anytime BG is mentioned on national television). Yet, I lost a lot of respect for him when he left BG the way he did.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I think most are proud to be associated with him, are grateful for what he did here, but are a little bitter/angry/disappointed with the manner in which he left.

Sure he's a maniacal-egotistical bastard that Nick Satan. But in all fairness, he couldn't really have given an answer to the question of staying or leaving that would have satisfied reporters anything short of his vehement statement that is now being used to vilify him. A no comment answer or an answer where he left the door open would have likely only enraged the reporter mob to get that scoop.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:Saban deserves all the heat he is taking. He was so indignant and arrogant in how he addressed the media when he was still in "I'm not going to Alabama" mode. All coaches lie, but he had a "How dare you call me on it -- don't you know who I am?" attitude about the whole deal.

From watching the press conference in question, he projected a holier-than-thou air of arrogance that pissed me off before he even took the job. And I have absolutely zero emotional connection to the situation.UK Peregrine wrote:Sure he's a maniacal-egotistical bastard that Nick Satan. He basically just acted like an arrogant, hypocritical, douchehat, and from most accounts, that's right in line with his normal way of acting. I got no sympathy for him, especially given the contract he just signed.
