First of all, could you please shut up Falconboy. You have no idea what recruiting is all about, and you have no clue about this kid. None of us no how good he really is, but a 3 star recruit is more likely to land at a mid major than anywhere else. Do you really think that the Dukes, UConns, and the other big time programs are going to recruit him just because he is Michael Jordans son. NO. They are going to recruit a kid that is at the top of all of the scouting services. His father could make some calls and send out some tapes, but I doubt that is going to happen. Most recruiting services go up to 5 stars. The major colleges are recruiting the 4 and 5 star kids.
Secondly, I think that Mr. Jordan would rather send his son to someone that is going to make sure that he goes to class and becomes a better man. Jordan Sr. went to UNC and played for Dean Smith. Coach Smith was not an easy person to play for himself. He demanded to the most out of his players, and that I'm sure is the type of coach MJ wants his son to play for. Isiah Thomas and Bobby Knight have nothing to do with this situation, I don't even understand how you can logically bring that into the conversation. I believe that if Jeffery Jordan wants to get out of Illinois, BG could be the destination of his choosing. And it's not like kids are jumping ship right now here. They are actually staying and playing hard for Coach Dakich.

I hadn't thought about this. Just for fun, I'll say give him the extension. Dakich hasn't been that awful that I wouldn't spend four more years with him, to have Michael Jordan's son come here. From an attendance standpoint alone, it would be better for BGSU athletics to just give Dakich the extension, if this situation came up.Warthog wrote:Ok, I'll be the first to ask: If the key to landing Jordan is Dakich still being the coach, do you give him an immediate 4 year extension?

Na na nana na -- I already asked.
I don't think it would be that black and white, but the choice would be a lot easier if he made a run in the MAC this year.
I don't think you can pick or keep a coach just based on one recruit. Some wanted Huggins here in the hopes OJ Mayo would follow.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... Interesting scenario...Tricky_Falcon wrote:If we are going through a coaching change at the end of the season, unless Michael Jordan himself becomes coach there is no way Jeffrey comes here.
AND Hammb could try to talk MJ into buying out Gregg Brandon's contract!

I think the would have to get it. I dislike Dan's offense becuase I don't think it gets us open shots. I dislike the fact that we had a ton of transfers. We seem to be pretty set with the squad we have. Unless Marshcall, Miller, Moten and Hamblet transfer after this year (no way any do) We should be atleast average in the MAC for the next 3 years.JimmyZ11381 wrote:I hadn't thought about this. By the way how do we get two more sophomores with names that start with M?
In the interest of historical correctness Dakich's shutdown of Jordan occurred in a sweet 16 game not the NCAA Final, although the Tar Heels were a 1 seed and many experts pick to win it all that year.Warthog wrote:Are you kidding??? Dakich's only claim to collegiate fame is playing great defense against Jordan in the championship game to help Indiana win the title!Globetrotter wrote: Grant do you know anything about Dakich and Jordans relationship?

AND, in all fairness to Dan... I don't believe that's his ONLY claim to collegiate fame. He had a great college career. The Sweet 16 game is obviously his "One Shining Moment" but he was a tough, hard-nosed player!doughash wrote:In the interest of historical correctness Dakich's shutdown of Jordan occurred in a sweet 16 game not the NCAA Final, although the Tar Heels were a 1 seed and many experts pick to win it all that year.Warthog wrote:Are you kidding??? FYI, I've got that game on VHS... I should get it transferred to DVD... it really is amazing to watch!

The door opens and Dan drops into a defensive stance with his hands up...
"Hi Mike.... remember me??"
Tell me Jeff wouldn't end up at BGSU if that ever happened?
After inviting Dan into the house, the three men sit down to talk and coach D says, "I brought some film... I want to show you guys how we do things at BGSU."
The elder Jordan ushers the trio into his lavish home theater and pops the DVD into the player...
The film starts out with overviews of campus, historical images, Big Nate, Butch, and Andy... it then segues into Antonio, Keith, Stacey, Lenny, BP, etc... lots of clips of a mad-packed Anderson Arena and then abruptly breaks to the 1984 East Regional Sweet 16 game with a montage of Dakich shutting the elder Jordan down.... "Oh... whoops.... how did THAT get in there!!"
