I don't feel like they were even lumping us in with Weber State. They probably just looked at the schedule and picked the two weakest opponents. It's not like they said "Hopefully Boise won't have to play two equally crappy teams like Weber State and BG."
Besides, it's not like we're known for our firm scheduling. There is a ton of precedent in place that says we'd be open to changing the schedule, or at least that we're not strong enough to keep from getting screwed.

Listen folks. Here's the deal. Once MAC teams can beat major college teams, year in and year out, we will start to get respect. But knocking off a Purdue, Pitt, or Missouri every once in a while isn't going to cut it when MAC teams MORE consistently get hammered by the Purdues, Pitts, Missouris, Wisconsins, Ohio States, Michigans, etc. Michigan, Ohio State, or Notre Dame didn't just start a football team and were automatically dubbed football powers. They had to win, and win consistently, every year! The 4 win seasons with these teams are rare to nonexistent!
?But...but...Capital! The last few seasons we had winning records and beat Purdue!? Right...And before that, we were horrible for just as many seasons. Why does the whole state of Ohio seem to be filled with rabid, zombie-esque Buckeye fans??? They are the ONLY team in the entire state that pretty much wins every year! Let?s see what Ohio State looks like if they have a decade or more with only a 3-4 winning seasons. Was it a fluke that when the Indians were consistently one of the best in baseball season after season you couldn't get a ticket to the Jake? People like winners!
You want more respect in the MAC, you don?t get blown off the field, game after game, whenever you play the big boys. Beat Wisconsin, you gain respect. Beat Minnesota, you gain respect. Beat Michigan State, you gain respect. But you can?t just do it once every 4 years or so when the stars are aligned. You have to do it every season, or at the very least, beat those teams occasionally and never get blown out. If this past season, the MAC knocked off 2-3 major football programs, and lost to the rest of the major teams by no more than a touchdown or field goal, Burbank wouldn?t be laughing. A few years ago, the MAC had a great season and knocked off some big guys. Everyone was excited about being called the ?MAC Daddies? by ESPN, we were talking about BG might be moving to a BCS conference, yadda, yadda, yadda. But that's exactly what it was. One great season. Since then, the MAC has returned to mid-major football as usual. Until the conference can consistently put up seasons like that, we will not be respected. Everyone can talk about how the MAC gets the short-end of the stick. We really don?t. Until we can consistently show that there are teams in the conference can compete every year with anyone in the country, we get exactly what we deserve.

EXACTLY. thank you ive been saying that about alot of things. its very true. although i still am frustrated by the burbank comments and what not just because for uninformed listeners it paints a bad picture of the mac, but we need to go out and win to give them a better picture when we beat or at least come close to beating their favorite teams. you win, u build a dynasty, you build a dynasty you get the boosters you get the boosters and all the sour fans who's teams gets beaten by us spells it BG$U wouldnt that be great?

I too will be surprised if we play Boise. My biggest fear is that Boise would win a BCS game and get a big program ego, bigger than they already had and would likely be able to name their OOC schedule. I think the BG program is banking on this home game in terms of both attendance and likely ESPN exposure.
I hope the schedule deadline passes with no changes, but I'm being cautiously optimistic.

As bad as we were last year, I would have liked us to beat Michigan State. They lost to Illi-frickin-nois at home, which was worse than any loss we had last year outside of Temple. They went 4-8, just like us, and outside of QB Drew Stanton, who is clearly superior to our QB Anthony Turner, its not like they had much more talent or better coaching than us. Globetrotter, say what you want about John L. Smith, but he is not a good coach at all.Falconfreak90 wrote:Well, it certainly doesn't hurt the Buck$ when they play EIGHT home games a year vs FOUR road games. And beating Michigan State? When those pansies decide to play us again, we'll see.
And about Cincinnati - I find it hilarious that those radio guys smack about us and the MAC when we are 4-0 all time vs UC. Idiots.
