I think if Moten, Hamblet or Miller would step up as a lefit second scorer every night...We would be fine and a contender....I dont see the MAC being all that strong this year.

Samarco is averaging 43 points per game in MAC play.

I got to the car just in time to hear Dan say something like "Well, once I got smart enough to put Polk and Bland into the game, we starting playing again."

That last 6.0 seconds seemed to take about 15 minutes to actually finish. Despite all that, great game from the Falcons. Like others have said, I like the heart this team shows. After taking the 14 point lead and then seeing Buffalo pretty much dominate us for the next 25 mins or so, it would have been easy to just pack it in for the last 5 mins. But they gutted it out all the way.

One thing that I am really impressed with is our depth. All 11 guys played today and everyone of them made an important contribution. Once Hamblett and Marschall get back, Dan's gonna have the pleasant task of trying to find playing time for everyone. Hasn't been like that around here since before Magner and Newsom were focred to join the team just for some depth.

Four first year players (Simms, Miller, Otis, Bland) & Samarco, getting it done down the stretch. Give the coach some credit for getting them ready.

I agree with you totally.
I get the feeling that we are going to be seeing more transfers. This time it will be guys from the end of the bench.

If Polk emerges, then our starters are:

Hamblet
Samarco
Miller
Marcshall
Polk

With so many other players able to contribute off the bench, I really do think we can contend for 1st in the East in this down year.

That is actually a starting 5 that will scare some people in the MAC.

Hamblet is a very good perimeter defender/scorer/distributor
Samarco is your main scoring threat
Miller is a do it all combo forward, scores, rebounds, passes
Marschall is your #2 offensive option out of the post
Polk is your defensive presence and likely your best rebounder

I really look forward to watching that group play together. Even better? Jr-Sr-So-So-Fr...4 of 'em back next year

It is all about chemistry, last two years there has been tension, I hate to say this but John Floyd was a problem, he is gone and we have something new going on this year!!!!!!!!!!! go falcons, falcon fan for 35 years!!!!!!

They wont and should not start Polk ever this year if Lefeld is able to play. Starting is more of a honorary thing anyway and Lefeld has done too much for this team to take that away from him. Let Lefled start and Polk play the more meaningful minutes....and it is scary....you are right.

And think about this....next year we lose Samarco a huge loss...but we have Moten and to a lesser extent Simms showing signs of scoring ability to take over that role. We also may have a -67 freshmen with a little bit of athleticism.

Marcshall was making some incredible moves in the post before getting hurt. I'm thinking he could become our #1 on the frontline, and may be our #1 option on the team next year. He can hit the 15 footer. He has a good stroke.
