"We need a new floor at Anderson" Per Dakich......

Post by Falconboy »

If anyone remembers hearing Dan mention it at a earlier Coaches Show , he said that our floor is the same stinking floor that Nate Thurmond played on 35+ years ago. Apparently whats under the hardwood in Anderson is rock hard concrete instead of some newer alternate material. DD basically said he's convinced it has contributed to our many foot/ankle injuries over the years to players like Stacy, others and now probably Lefeld.

It'd be nice if AD Christopher gets wind of this and starts looking for a new base foor. I believe DD also said Akron is the only Mac school he knows of still using concrete under hardwood and they've had similier problems as well. If there's a one good upgrade to Anderson that is needed now its probably this.

So what are you saying Hammb? DD is just whining? You think DD is blowing smoke about our floor? You never thought anything might be weird with the many players who've played here getting knee/foot or ankle problems constantly? Well, I for one believe it. Having concrete under the hardwood floor can't be good for your feet when you practice there all the time AND play home games there. All the jumping up and down and running on that has to be hard on joints. I'm guessing it effects the men more cuz of their being heavier.

If DD said it then it can't be believed. Bah Bah, The entire AA should be replace not just the floor. To move this program to a level of being a contenter every year it needs more improvements then what good money should be spend on. Build it and a good team and folks will come. Just having parking would help.

I think Anderson has a lot of problems. I'm not convinced that "the floor is too hard" is one of them.

His argument that it's the same floor that Thurmond played on works against him too. If it was good enough for all those guys why isn't it good enough for us now?

I would need to see some sort of statisical analysis showing that floors of our old style result in a higher injury rate than others before I'd take his side. Even then I seriously doubt that a new floor is financially feasible given all the other needs that Anderson Arena has.

I am sure if Dan said the floor was perfectly fine and had nothing to do with all the feet problems then all these experts that have accomplished so much with their athletic careers and sterling coaching careers, would say their is something a matter with the floor. Coaches at BG are never right it"s the people on the sight that have all the answers.

I think we should put in fieldturf.

Hey don't attack the messanger. All I'm saying is that I have enough respect for DD to not lie when he says that we are one of the extreme very few schools who are still using a 40 year old floor with concrete underneath.

I played Jr.Falcon basketball on it way back in the Antonio Daniels days, don't remember if the floor felt hard or not, but I didn't play on it for 2 hrs 13 times a year.

They play on it a whole heck of a lot more than that.

Doesn't matter what Dakich thinks, and it certainly doesn't matter what we think. AA won't be getting a new floor. Ever.
