I would not sell Bowling Green short on this.

Bowling Green is a small town environment in a league that includes a lot of small towns. It is easy to see that this could appeal for a young Jordan -- who may just want to play and improve himself without dealing with a damned media circus following him around. The impression one gets is that Jordan's sons are not easily distracted by bling.

In that sense, Bowling Green could be a much better fit than Illinois-Chicago, which is located in Chicago and plays in the Horizon, home of much bigger cities.

Also, if the young Jordan develops NBA chops, the NBA will obviously find him, no matter where he is.

One could also see Dakich appealing to the Jordans. He seems very much about the fundamentals, about good defense, and he may have a relationship with the elder Jordan.

On the other side of the ledger:

-- Davidson is in North Carolina and appears to be in a small town league. North Carolina may be more convenient for the Jordans since MJ spends at least some of his time out there. (Another question that pops to mind: Does Jordan have a private plane? If so, could the Wood County airport handle it? That potentially, could be a super convenient situation, but I have my doubts that Wood County could handle a private jet. Does anyone know?)

-- It isn't at all clear that Dakich will be here next year. If Dakich has any kind of edge in this situation, either because of his coaching style or because of a relationship he may have with MJ, this could effectively be neutralized.

Does anyone remember the orthodox Jewish phenom from Maryland who was getting some serious looks from Division I programs, despite the fact that he had no intention of playing on Saturdays?

I scoffed at the idea of him ever consenting to play in Bowling Green. To my knowledge, there are no temples in Bowling Green.

But this Jordan thing -- it may not work out; recruiting is a funny thing. but I'm not scoffing.

"The Jewish Jordan", Tamir Goodman wound up at Towson and never really lived up to the hype. It will be fun to see how this plays out...

Depending upon the size of the jet, it would not be an issue. Small private jets land and take off from Wood County Airport all the time. Ferraris, Porsches, Cadillacs, really fast motorcycles, etc... also have no trouble driving to BG. ;-)

This kid is probably a player tha Dakich would love to have. Seeing that he was taught by the best to ever play the game of basketball. He is probably cut from the same mold as his father, in terms with, hard-working, good defense etc. his 3-star rating doesnt measure the kind of heart and work ethic this kid probably posses to be a Jordan. There is no way that Michael let him slack of like a lot of the players today who all think they can make it to the NBA on all of that flashy crap. He would probably fit in well. If we get Jeff Jordan, it will put BG basketball back on the map like how it was when AD was here doing his thing and getting selected 4th overall.

Are you kidding??? Dakich's only claim to collegiate fame is playing great defense against Jordan in the championship game to help Indiana win the title!
In the interest of historical correctness Dakich's shutdown of Jordan occurred in a sweet 16 game not the NCAA Final, although the Tar Heels were a 1 seed and many experts pick to win it all that year.
AND, in all fairness to Dan... I don't believe that's his ONLY claim to collegiate fame. He had a great college career. The Sweet 16 game is obviously his "One Shining Moment" but he was a tough, hard-nosed player!
You're right Grant. I didn't mean to sell Dan short. I should have said his biggest claim to fame.

Sussman writes about the topic in the Toledo Free Press this week. It's basically one of those "Nuh-uh" pieces I enjoy SO much...

Why bother thinking when you can emote? Constructing a rational argument is a lot of work. It''s so much more reassuring to rely on your emoitonal responses. Logical thought is a relic of the past. It was banned by a decree from Oprah back in 1999.

Yikes -- incorrect premises and lack of anything that could be considered a rational thought aside, that's a terrible article.

We are all now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
