Not so fast, my friend. All of Cleveland radio is abuzz with people screaming that Teddy Ginn getting hurt was the reason OSU got BLOWN OUT. If it isn't that, the reason Ohio State got BLOWN OUT was becasue they had two weeks more rest than Florida. If it isn't that, Ohio State got BLOWN OUT because Florida didn't belong in that game.

Eveyone's basic conclusion around here is that Florida is the worst national championship team ever, and that OSU would beat Florida 99 times out of 100 tries. Oooooh no. These people are in rare form.

I forgot that the Cavs are out west, and turned on WTAM around 7:00 to hear Kevin Keane slurping OSU. I promptly turned back to the Sirius.

Absolute puke. This is one of the things I wanted to get across on my latest blog. Ohio State is not EVERYONE's team here in Ohio. I can name quite a few UM, ND, Penn State and many others in addition to the Ohio schools. That letter "writer" needs to take the first bus to Cbus...and I will pay for their ticket. I think I'll respond. LOL.

Hammb, you are right about Tressel. The guy is no more classy, saintly or whatever than any other coach out there. Buckeye Nation is so blindly in love with him they can't bear to hear anything bad about him. Truth hurts, people.

I have an idea. Why not invest this love and energy into YOUR school instead of one 3 hours down the road? Do some research and find out about the BGSU football traditions and success over the decades and you might learn some things. BG has quite a history in not only football, but most sports. We don't take a back seat to ANYONE. Reading your letter, I would swear you live on High Street in Columbus.

What school is going to help you get a good job after graduation? This blind loyalty to OSU makes me sick. Not everyone in Ohio follows OSU, as you imply. I know I don't and never will. Only one school for me...BGSU. How is "Buckeye Fever" good for the state? And Jim Tressel is no different than any other coach in America. He's a great coach but he can't walk on water. OSU fans are so blindly in love with him they don't want to hear or refuse to acknowledge the car dealings at YSU. Tressel's players have gotten into as much trouble as John Cooper's. Had Coop won a national title, you'd still be singing his praises. I've noticed with the majority of Buck$ fans, as long as they win, nothing else matters. Win at all costs...I feel sorry for you people.

"Ohio loves her team"? Which one? There are approximately 40 colleges and universities in Ohio that play college football. I don't subscribe to that "You're from Ohio so you must root for OSU" stuff. Pure nonsense. OSU is NOT the end all, be all of college football. Get off your high horse. Florida just rocked OSU out of the stadium the other night and I know I'm not the only one who loved seeing that. Congrats to former BGSU coach, Urban Meyer, on winning the title! CHOMP CHOMP! BTW, Urban Meyer is also an OHIO native. Seeing OSU fans having to eat a BiG ole helping of humble pie with crow is priceless. Keep in mind YOUR BG Falcons put up almost 350 yards of total offense on OSU this past season. We may trail OSU 4-0 in the all time series, but BG could have won 2 of those contests. OSU just made a play or two more...and had some very generous refereeing in both the 1992 and 2003 games.

"Although the money says something, just think of the die-hard fans you know. Chances are, they woke up yesterday with an air of excitement, possibly rivaling the ways most kids wake up on Christmas morning. They probably sat through work or class impatiently counting down the minutes until kickoff. They lived and died with every play. And they loved every minute of it."

I really don't think the die hards loved anything more than the first 16 seconds of that game. "Ohio is blessed to have OSU"? I think it's more of a curse in this state for the other colleges and universities...not to mention the die hard BGSU people like me and fans of other Ohio schools.

This is BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY. BG's players carry themselves with just as much, if not more, integrity, as OSU. BG's players GRADUATE at a much higher level than OSU. I'm not saying we haven't had problem players but in comparision to OSU? Let's take a look at NCAA investigations. While OSU, with its $100 MILLION budget, doesn't need to break the rules, it still does at times. In comparison, BGSU has NEVER been found guilty of ANY NCAA infractions...EVER. I'll take that ANY day over a semi pro, NFL stockshop football factory like OSU. Anyone can be a Buck$ fan. It takes someone special to be a FALCON.

"But a healthy love of our local team is actually quite refreshing to see." I agree. The LOCAL team is BGSU, understand?

I really am having too much fun with this.

That may have been the greatest thing I have ever read. I also hate when osu fans say "You're from Ohio so you must root for OSU" line, does that mean I also have to cheer Ohio U, and every other school with Ohio in its team, and what about other states, like Michigan, Florida, Texas, and many others that have multiple schools with the state name in it, and all the people in those states suppose to cheer for all those teams.

Even though its unrelated, I would have thrown something in about the BG women's basketball team, just for the fact that they are the 18th ranked team in the country and going for a third straight MAC Title and NCAA tourney appearence.

I will never like osu, and for me that game was awesome for two reasons, I hate the Buckeyes, and I'm a fan of the Gators, but if those Gators ever appear on a BG schedule there is no question who I'm cheering, and thats the Falcons

Careful with that one... if you've had the misfortune of reading some of her other columns/letters, you'd see that 99% of them are about how everyone is a sinner and how they're ignoring the tenets of Christianity and...

Nothing wrong with being a Christian or even being enthusiastic about it, I just tire of being preached at from the Opinion page.

...oh, and while we're on the topic of BG News articles, did anyone else notice this in the closing paragraph of the "Journey to Aid New Orleans" article?:

In the end, it was 100 BG voices chanting "Ziggy Ziggy Zoomba," proud of what they were able to accomplish as a team.

The article was great and I'm proud of what our students did down there, but I couldn't help cringing when I read that line. "Ay Ziggy Zoomba" anyone?

My nephew was one of the students who went down to New Orleans. He said it originally was supposed to be about 50 students, but so many signed up they ended up taking like 3 busses (150+ students). He said it was an amazing experience.

Yeah, I had three friends go down and they absolutely loved it. They still haven't stopped talking about it and I don't blame them. Sounds like it was incredible.

I hate Ohio State and love Urban Meyer and even I can say the game would have been a lot closer had Teddy Ginn not gotten hurt. NO they wouldn't have won. Probably wouldn't have even kept it close, but he did score half of their points in 1 play. I definitely think they would have gotten at least 1 more score because he proved to be by far the fastest man on the field.

BUT, he does not play defense and he wouldnt have kept FLA from getting 41 points. UF deserves exactly what they got and thats a big National Championship win!

Thought I would share some quotes from my cooperating teacher, who is a huge Buckeye fan:

"If I were an OSU player, I would not get out of bed this morning. They played like a bunch of pansy high school kids."

"I think Ted Ginn Jr. wasn't hurt; he just knew he couldn't live up to the kick return. If I was his dad, I would have left after chewing him out."

(she prefaced this comment with the fact that she really likes Troy Smith) "I think we should go to his house and take back the Heisman trophy. I hope he goes in the second round of the draft."

Also my dad heard that Ginn's injury was the result of celebrating following his touchdown...I haven't read any of the articles because I watched the game, but hadn't heard that.

Maybe we should have had the OSU-Michigan rematch because that might have at least been an exciting game...although I definitely think USC vs. Florida would be a better game.

here is my comment on the game

I know I said I would be gone for the next three weeks but I have a free moment and decided to stop by..

I am doubting that ted Ginn got hurt celebrating after his TD..he was on the field for the next drive and played three plays. He had a pass thrown to him that he attempted to chase down and I believe he sprained his ankle on that play as he was trying to stop himself when he was out of bounds since the pass was thrown toward the sideline. after that play is when they took him to the locker room.

I said it was a lot like 2002 when everyone thought Miami had it easy and OSU shocked them. Everyone thought OSU had it in the bag this year..I as not one of them, I was a bit worried about Florida. I thought OSU would win but everyone thinks their team is going to win. I am willing to bet, though you will not admit, that so many OSU fans you have encountered thought OSU was going to steam roll Florida. Its the national title game, you can not predict the outcome based on anything but your personal bias.

Florida played the game of their life, Leak was sharp, Meyer had all of the right plays, they were ready.

OSU was outcoached, they were flat, they acted like it was an inconvenience to be on the field with Florida, they made absolutley zero adjustments on defense or in the blocking schemes on offense, they could have easily thrown screens all day the way Florida was blitzing, but they never did it was horrible all the way through. Florida was the better team last night, they proved that they belonged over UM. The BCS isnt perfect but it turns out that it was right, the right teams played in that game.

I thought it was pretty cool what you wrote. I admitted I was wrong about OSU losing 3 games this year. Despite Monday night, OSU had a great season. They proved to be one of the best teams in college football. What is your honest view for next year? If all these JR's go pro, does Tressel have the players ready to step in? Their D was damn good all year but got blown up by UM and UF> Even BG put up 350 yards.
