One, I was in band in high school, and I know what it's like to be in a band that doesn't play all ut one song on the occassion.

Two, Yes, I saw them on TV and it shouldn't matter how big the gam was or anything like that. One for sure was BG @ Notre Dame hockey in which case I saw in person. They even sang Mr. Spratt a Bday song with some type of whimsical theme to it. They cheer and chant and all that.

A simple assist in the defense cheer would be sufficient.

And I am not saying it is JUST the bands "fault". Everyone should be cheering more. When I'm down on the court, sometimes I'm not yelling anything and I think to myself I should be doing something.

The reason I mentioned the band was b/c someone else did.

falconmama2007 you should come and say hello to us on the sideline and feel free to join us. 8)

Does anyone have any ideas for what to say, bring or do at the games??

Kaleena I feel the same way somethings, and recently I have been starting the most of the chants, but outside of Lets Go Falcons, Defense, the long o, and yelling at a certain player (Nick Dials), thats really all you can chant, and I kinda get bored chanting it everytime. If anyone has something creative that would be chantable let me know.

Just wait til a player screws up, and then chant his name over, and over, and over, and over. He doesn't have to have the ball -- hell, he doesn't even have to be in the game. We used to do it to John Edwards and he would completely self-destruct.

Basically, look for the weak, sick one lagging at the back of the herd, and pick it off. Be careful of guys that thrive on that sort of thing (like Ben Reed). Just be as creative as possible. The goal is to either make the opposing player cry (easier in women's basketball), or make their own teammates laugh at them.

Speaking of Nick Dials, every time he ran by us I told him from now on he was known as hand soaps (plural because of the s in dials). Guys with long hair are easy, who do they think they are, Omar Jacobs? The all-time greatest cheer I have heard from the student section is when the GIANT from indiana went to the free throw line, and everyone yelled fe fi fo fum!

When I was in high school we got this guy to say he never wanted to play at our school again all because he got on him for this headband he was wearing, and ever since then I try for that. Also I agree with Niz about the IU one

Damn Hollywood! They actually had an ICEBERG hitting the Titanic, not an icebug.

Speaking of "Kyle from Marketing" - I think it would be great if the crowd yelled "Hello Kyle" as he took to the floor.

I think it starts the minute we begin to read the opposing teams line-up. How many of us (rather I should say "you") remember when Tom Glick would announce a players name and the crowd would lower the newspaper and shout "Who's he? NOBODY!" and raise the paper waiting on the next victim?

I wondered what ever happened to the paper deal too. We should do it next game....what do you think BGCincy and Niz? Unless we have something more creative.

In high school we had themed nights. Like when we played this ghetto school we dressed as thugs (see photo Image) or we had prep night when we played a rich type school etc. We could do something like that, but then we couldn't wear the lovely orange and brown.

speaking of that, a few of us do yell that sometimes. When I was playing in the band last game I tried getting the people around me to yell "Hello Kyle" they just thought I was weird. LOL

Could do prep night when Miami comes to town

I like the paper idea, since we also do it at hockey games. When I was in high school we did papers but instead of saying who he's nobody to all five we had five different one and we used one on each player. They were who's that, who's he, who cares, gome home, and you suck. A lot of schools in Cincy that we played also did this

I'm down for the doing the newspapers for the next home game. Next home game is a week from today. So since it's on a week night, us on the sideline will probably be the only ones there. But hey I'll bring some newspapers with for the next game. I always bring a ton for hockey games so I can start doing it for b-ball if y'all wanna do that.

My collar is poped! I don't know about any of the other schools, I guess we could "research", if you will, what we could do.

So let's bring papers again and we need some props too...

Army fatigues? James Rhodes masks?

I like the idea of branching the newspaper tradition from hockey to hoops. I might even think that someone who got there early, or someone from the BG News could go through the student section (or more!) and drop off some papers ready to go.

I remember bringing up getting on Nick Dials for the Akron game and that got me thinking, may be before a game someone (me, Niz, Kaleena, Crazy Fan) should go to the opponents website and find one of their players to be a "target" for the game, someone we get on the entire game. Could also use facebook to find a goofy or bad pic of this person, like ou did to Martin, and print a bunch out to pass out
