There is a possibility that it will be brought back, but for right now, the program has ceased to exist (for incoming students).

He still makes a valid point about us eventually needing to most efficiently use the land we have available. However, I have a lot of difficulty seeing these garages actually happen. With the way things progress and happen around here, they are either never going to happen, or are so far off that we may not even be around to appreciate them.

Are they still planning on moving Campus Police and Parking and Traffic into the first floor of that garage? They could use the space.

I was hoping for a more in depth report on the construction of the facilities. However, I liked the pictures. They need to report further on the scoreboard at AA. In the old days, the giant scoreboard above the floor was not there. When they put it in, it looked so big and out of place. I think the former owner of the Cavs, Nick Mileti donated it.

After hearing the explanation from the poster from the BG News, I look forward to that in the coming sections. I still think it could have been divided up smoother, I think a strict "past, present, future" divide might have worked better in consecutive days, but now knowing how they've done it, I'm interested to see what the rest of the series has to say. (And am hoping that the "present" section this week isn't just "AA has duct tape." )

Isnt there another article out there that highlights what BG has envisioned witha map of what is currently there? I would love to see that in this regard.

Is it just me, or does this sound more and more like "Marina District" every day??

Link won't work for me, but I wonder what gets slated for the end of that 20 years? Seems like there are at least a couple buildings that may not have that much time. :?

Also, is the misspelling of Warren Steller's name on the front page blurb a sign of things to come for the rest of the column? :(

I saw that Steller thing too and also saw the date of The Doyt was incorrect- should be 1966. And instead of "Year Constructed" it should have been "Year Opened".

The fuzzy future of the Falcons' facilities.

The baseball field now has a ticket window? We used to just wander up to the bleachers with a cooler full of Iron City.

Curt Miller says the playing surface at Anderson Arena is fine...Dan says it isn't. Curt has won 30 straight conference games and has been to the NCAA's the last two years. Dan has lost three straight in the conference and has watched a lot of NCAA tournament play form his living room.

I think I'll go with Curt on this one...

And I *still* can't get that Snooze article to load. From EITHER link that's been posted here...

"The 20 Year Plan" has a company to run it now. They're out of Colorado, and in charge of some athletic center that's allegedly being built in BG.

From the release:

"Bowling Green State University Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics Greg Christopher has announced that Denver-based Sink Combs Dethlefs (SCD) as its architectural partner for a facility master plan designed to evaluate and assess current and future needs for the 18-sport NCAA Division I program.

"Sink Combs Dethlefs is well positioned to partner with BGSU on this project," said Christopher. "Their work as the architect for the Sebo Center has been first-rate and their facility master plan experiences with other athletic departments helped them stand out in our evaluation of firms."

The facility master plan is an important part of the path the department will take in the next few years. The planning process is designed to help the intercollegiate athletic program and the University to take a department-wide look at its priorities and develop a cohesive approach to facility needs in the coming years. The plan also will include an unbiased assessment of the program's facilities, from a structural and operational standpoint. Coaches, administrators, and University leaders also will work with SCD to lay out their respective facility issues, breaking items into immediate, mid- and long-term priorities.

"The facility master plan is a critical step as we develop a direction for BGSU Athletics, said Christopher. "Done well, this becomes a 20-year blueprint for the university and department to follow." SCD is well qualified for the BGSU Athletics facility master plan project. Besides their work on the Sebo Athletic Center. SCD has completed a number of athletic facility master plans, including recent work with Boise State, Fresno State and the University of Colorado.

"Having worked with Bowling Green on the Sebo Athletic center, we are really excited to have this opportunity," said Don Dethlefs, President of Sink Combs Dethlefs. "We are looking forward to working with all the programs to find out what the long-term and short term needs are."

The Sebo Athletic Center is the first athletics-only facility built on campus since 1966 and will open later this academic year.

"We have a number of pressing facility challenges and this process will help us on three key fronts," said Christopher. "First, we will prioritize needs and have a cohesive plan to address our facility deficiencies. Second, part of the process will include benchmarking peer institutions, so we know beyond anecdotes where we come up short. And third, the plan's end result will be a road map we can use to tell our story and vision for the future. Private fundraising is an important part of improving our facilities and donors will need to see the plan in order to consider investing in the future."
