OK - Game by game analysis.
@ WMU - last place team in the West, would be about 3rd-4th in the east. It's on the road, but these are games we win. BG by 9
@ EMU - EMU is the last MAC team to beat the Falcons. This is not as good of an EMU team as we have seen recently, IMHO, but they are still very dangerous. They are well-coached and are 5-1 in the MAC, losing only to 15-2 Ball State. I imagine they have improved a lot as the season has progressed as early on they lost to 5-10 Oakland (who we beat by 31). ON paper, we are better. I am a bit concerned as this game is on the road, but we should come out on top. BG pulls away late, wins by 12.
@ Chicago State - 5-13 team on the road. BG by 20. (although they beat Oakland!?!?)
Toledo - TV game at the house that roars. Toledo's best win was at WMU. They've won 3 in a row...I can't do it; I am not really impressed. There is no way they come to AA and win. BG by 18.
Ball State - The second most impressive MAC team this year. BSU is 15-2, 6-0 in the MAC. Their losses were at 13-6 Indiana and at 14-4 Illinois State. They beat Michigan and 14-5 Xavier on the road. This is a tough team that might earn an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. The good news is that we play them only once and it is in our house. BG by 6
@ NIU - Another scary game. NIU is 12-5 and 4-2 in the MAC, losing on the road to EMU and BSU. When all is said and done, they are the #2 team in the west, IMHO. They beat Illinois and Ill State this season, but somehow lost to IUPUI!?!?!? On the road in the far reaches of the MAC, this is a tough game. I think BG is a better team and wins it by 5.
The rest of the games don't scare me (at KSU a little bit) So with the exception of KSU let's just say , BG by 20 except for at KSU. Win by 8 @ KSU.
EMU, BSU and NIU are tough. Let's hope we can keep this winning streak in the MAC going all year.

Yep -- the three loss-potential games are @ NIU, @ EMU, and @ KSU. I really don't think there are more than 5-10 teams in the country that can come in to AA and beat us this year. Nobody in the MAC is amongst those teams. The ladies on the opposing teams are not used to seeing 1500-2000 crazy fans in the gym. We have the second longest home winning streak in the country for a reason. BSU will hang around for a while, but we'll pull away like we did with Delaware.
@ NIU will be tough. They almost got us down there the last time we played. And EMU is a very tough place to play. As you say, we lost the last time we were up there. If we can get a good contingent of students to make the trip up to Ypsi, it'll help us out greatly. It's a real easy drive from BG, so start making plans with your friends right now and get up there.

Western Michigan wiped out Ohio yesterday in Athens. Watching them, it was hard to believe that they were 0-5 in the MAC. Carrie Moore is the best MAC player I have seen this year - she's probably too short to be drafted, and may not have a good enough 3-point shot, but I would be surprised if she doesn't get a free agent invite to a camp. Ohio tried to face-guard her most of the game, but she shredded them. WMU seems to be using the game as a stepping stone to facing BG.

No doubt. That is not a kind stretch at all. Going to MI and Ill twice and NY once. Lots of travel time.BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I think the only way it could be bigger is if we were undefeatedFalcon30 wrote:That's the focus of the article - how important it was to beat a team on the road which played BG tough.
I wonder if the bullseye could get any bigger?

As far as our remaining schedule is concerned, here's the way I see it.
Of the home games, the only team that has a chance against us is Balls Tate. But they will likely only keep it close until early in the 2nd half and we'll pull away.
The two games in Michigan should be wins, especially WMU. I'm not impressed by their win in Athens, a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. EMU could be tougher, but they aren't as good as last year. It's a Sunday afternoon, its probably going to be quite an atmosphere in Ypsilanti, but I think we're used to that. I'm thinking that we jump out to an early lead and maybe withstand a 2nd half run or two to win it.
The game that scares me the most is @NIU. That one could be real tough. We're gonna need to play well to beat them, its a Saturday afternoon, the arena in Dekalb will likely be just as crazy as in Ypsilanti, and its our first game after we play Balls Tate, a possible letdown scenario. That game is the most likely loss in conference play. If we win against NIU, its a clear path to 16-0 since nobody in the East Division is worthy or holding our jocks.
Or is that bras and panties? 8)

Balls Tate has creeped near the top 25 in RPI, and got 2 votes in the latest AP poll. I would love them to be undefeated -- it would probably be the biggest crowd of the year if marketed right. Maybe 2500 people?
Or maybe Toledo would be bigger. Who doesn't want to see us stomp them by 40?
