There are a couple reasons why I would rather not see the interlocking BG/"peek-a-boo" retail falcon at midfield. First, I don't really like the logo aesthetically. Simply a matter of preference. Second, I would like to see the midfield/center court/center ice logo be the same on all of our major playing surfaces. It just seems to make sense from an image perspective. If the retail falcon is going to be the logo that the average sports fan identifies BG with, then let's go with it on everything. Slap it on all of the jerseys and helmets, put it on the fields and courts, and make it what we are identified by. I understand that the change shouldn't be made overnight, but it seems like we have many different logos out there right now. I would not mind the athletic department going with either the updated traditional logo or the retail logo, but I would like to see one picked and consistently used.

I'm actually excited to hear about us putting down Fieldturf. Just as long as we actually use Fieldturf (or a similar type of turf like Fieldturf) and not the junk that Toledo has. And that's not a cut on Toledo because I am a Falcons, it has nothing to do with it at all. UT uses the Nexturf crap that is like astroturf except is has longer blades and it's crap compared to what just about everyone else in the country has put in over the last few years. If we went the same route as UT's turf, it would be a major mistake. But I don't think we'll make a bad decision like that. Schools like Oregon and Nebraska actually put that type of Nexturf in a couple years ago and both ripped it up and replaced it with a Fieldturf (or type like Fieldturf) the following season.factman wrote:Field Turf (or something similar) for next year. I don't think we'll make that mistake either, and if we do, it will be obvious that whoever made the decision wasn't watching the UT game this past season. We had way too many plays that ended with people falling over because the turf sucked.BGSU33 wrote:UT uses the Nexturf crap that is like astroturf except is has longer blades and it's crap compared to what just about everyone else in the country has put in over the last few years. I think Nexturf went bankrupt, so we shouldn't have a problem there. Purdue installed fieldturf last year so AD Christopher is pretty familiar with them.....not that that matters entielyPeregrinner wrote:I don't think we'll make that mistake either, and if we do, it will be obvious that whoever made the decision wasn't watching the UT game this past season. Please for the love of god don't put that stupid new falcon at the 50 yard line.
So much for renewing my Falcon club membership...it was fun while it lasted.
If the game was that drastically different from grass compared to field turf....
...forget it.
I would trade Cleveland Browns Stadium for Ford Field in a heartbeat. Because of our friggin need for purist tradition, we can't have a dome or a super bowl or a bowl game or a MAC championship game. No that goes to the football mecca known as Detroit.
How many people first saw AA because of HS playoffs held there?
How many people will now see the Sebo-enhanced Doyt for the same reason?
We were the last holdout in the MAC. That should count for something for you purists. But Puh-LEASE, come out of the 1970s and let the wonderful word "progress" roll off your tongues.
I am SO doing my lawn in fieldturf as a protest to the protesting.

Whatever, to each their own, I suppose. The game is not as good on FieldTurf than it is on good grass. It's not even debateable. Field Turf is an improvement over what we had at the Miami game.
Domed stadiums totally blow and that has little to do with why we won't get a superbowl. Cleveland will never get a superbowl for the same reason Detroit will never get another one. Where the game is played is irrelevant; everyone bitched to high heaven about it being in a cold weather city last year. So if you want to relocate Cleveland to the south shore of Lake Okeechobee you'll get a superbowl, otherwise you will not. The only game I've ever been to Ford field was the MCB, football indoors totally sucks, IMO. If Cleveland ever built a domed stadium they could kiss good bye to all of their best fans.
Man cannot outdo mother nature when it comes to turf. Unfortunately we cannot seem to take care of our grass and are forced to move towards this artificial crap. They'll be saving a lot of money with this versus grass, I'm sure, so they will not miss my donations.

oh c'mon hammb, if they installed field turf in secret you'd probably never notice it. its still 4 downs to go 10, 100 yards endzone to endzone...how this changes the game that much i have no idea... how it changes it enough to not be a fan anymore is beyond me entirely. if they started playing with nerf balls and made the field out of stretched canvas then id be upset. fieldturf looks and feels like grass...it just doesnt get muddy. Frankly im indifferent with the turf. it will help with upkeep and get more publicity to our stadium... with the new sebo and a polished crisp looking field it will be a good looking place to play ball.
