But I picked out a couple of outfits that are simply darling!ZiggyZoomba wrote:Naaah, it's always fun. Otherwise us die-hards wouldn't keep going. Maybe it's just the commentary I get to enjoy sitting with Hammb and John and JimmyZ... but even in an AWFUL loss like tonight, I'd rather be in Anderson Arena than just about anywhere else. ESPECIALLY Gymboree... ugh...Flipper wrote:We were at the Gymboree in Ann Arbor doing some clothes shopping for our five year old daughter...it sounds like Pam and I had more fun than y'all

I don't know what to say about that game last night. I too will continue to be at AA. I'm usually overly optimistic in everything, but my optimism is finally starting to fade. I don't think this team is un-talented. If anyone else that was at the game last night saw what Marschall can do when he gets the ball in the post, and what Polk can do when he's in the game, there is reason to believe that this team can play. We need a change. The offense doesn't work. When they decided to double-up Marschall in the second half we looked like we had no idea what we were doing. I will stop the rambling...but this should be lineup on the floor the majority of the time.hammb wrote:The problem with this team is they don't freaking score. They played the entire first half as if they were totally dominant. If you were watching the game and not paying attention to the score you'd have thought we were up 10. Instead we were up 1.
Until this team gets some sort of offensive scheme where they don't go 5 minute stretches without scoring they'll never win. It's been the same s**t for 5 years now.
Not only do we suck we're boring as hell to watch, and you have to park 3/4 of a mile away to watch it. People wonder why our attendance sucks? The product is lousy and they make it a chore to partake in it.
Oh well, I'll be back again for more punishment, I'm sure.

Men's radio coverage
Driving back from the Motor City snowbelt to get to AA, I thought I'd at least get to hear the first half on radio.
WTF happened to the Falcons Radio Network? In fact, whatever happened to the Monday night coach's shows?
Does losing reduce our coverage by one station a week? It used to be that they were on North Baltimore FM 107.7, The Celina stations, Eagle 99.1 out of Fremont, WCWA in Toledo, and Cleveland 850, and maybe WLEC in Sandusky.
Last night, WCWA was playing UT Women, and I didn't pick up 107.7 until somewhere near Northwood. (I got the EMU game on 89.1 and the RRRRRockets on WSPD....gag)
Since I didn't get a "program" I missed seeing what stations are in the network.

I think you hit every station on the FSRN. I went to the official BG site, and they had last year's affiliates listed here:

What a great site!!!!
Nice attention to detail. Yeah, here's a list of stations....FROM LAST YEAR, because we're too lazy to update anything.
What a second class operation.

I'm wondering about this too. I heard Dakich mention when he is on The Ticket that he has to get over to the coaches show, but when I turn on 107.7 later, they are playing music. What's up with that?HoopsFan wrote:In fact, whatever happened to the Monday night coach's shows?

I've passed this question along to the people who are best suited to answer it. I'll let you know what I hear back.HoopsFan wrote:Driving back from the Motor City snowbelt to get to AA, I thought I'd at least get to hear the first half on radio.

I also think that should be the lineup, only problem is Polk and Marshall rank up the fouls too fastJimmyZ11381 wrote:but this should be lineup on the floor the majority of the time.

Both guys do foul a bit, no doubt. However, Dakich seems to actually have something against playing them out there together. Last night they subbed one for the other almost all game long. Was there ever a time when both were on the court at the same time?BGFalconfromCincy wrote:I also think that should be the lineup, only problem is Polk and Marshall rank up the fouls too fastJimmyZ11381 wrote:but this should be lineup on the floor the majority of the time.

Polk is a good post defender. He gets his fouls trying to block shots on help defense. He gets his fair share of blocks so I can live with it, but he needs to learn a little more discipline in that regard; he is a freshman.
Marschall just plain gets foul happy. He'll play 15 minutes without a foul then he'll get 3 of 'em in a 5 minute stretch. He's still young, I hope he'll learn.
What I don't understand is why we refuse to play to the strengths of our players. Isolate half the court, play the 2 man game and feed Marschall in the post...he can score on most post defenders in the league. If they bring the double kick it to someone who is open...he seems like a capable passer. In the preseason stuff it looked like Polk had some offensive moves as well, but all I've ever seen him do is set screens...has anyone EVER passed him the ball on offense? He's big enough you'd think he'd draw some fouls at the very least. If both Polk & Marschall are out there together all the better.
There really looks to be some talent on this team, but they don't seem to fit the offensive "system" one bit. The offensive scheme just looks to be one guy dribble at the top of the key, 2 guys set picks, 2 guys run around and hope to get lucky...eventually one of the guys running around will take the ball and become the dribbler at the top of the key while somebody else runs around for awhile. Sometimes we'll hit a cutter for an easy hoop, but all too often it seems we fail at getting good looks.
Our offense absolutely sucks and it's so frustrating to watch. There were numerous times last night where Hamblet just lolly gagged the ball up court and they didn't even set the offense up until there was 15 seconds left on the shot clock. We forced so many shots last night just because of having to hurry up because of the shot clock running down. Plus this team is going to live and die with Samarco, and he wasn't on last night.
Our offense will never be consistent as long as the area in front of the scorer's table is a revolving door of substitutions. No one gets a chance to work together and if a positive pattern does begin to establish itself, there's sub(s) or one of those damn media timeouts. I think the biggest reason I'm losing interest in college basketball is the way those enforced breaks mess up the flow of the game.
