I sat behind the Miller clan tonight and they were vocal and supportive. they seem like a nice bunch of people. If you people think there are not many students at our home games, check out Miami. The only student's there were the band and the dance team. Other than that, maybe about 100 others. redhawks have no student support whatsoever. Maybe against Ohio they will but not tonight. Loudest bunch in the arena were the Miller supporters.

I definitely agree. The band was awesome tonight. I especially liked the "Sit Down! Shut Up!" contribution. That was awesome.
Despite the unfortunate final score, there were a few points when everyone was really getting into it (i.e.: band, cheerleaders and all fans with the DEFENSE! chant).
Let's hope this builds until the end of the season.

cheering at Anderson
It was the best I've seen yet. Too bad a victory couldn't have come along with it. I just want to plead that they keep it coming and keep up the good work. Even the little line of three increased in length from base line to half court. Its all in fun and I love it. Some of the parents were vocal too
KEEP IT COMING FANS!!!!!!!!!!

Amen, brother.Dayons_Den wrote:I completely agree. There is just something about walking in to a packed Anderson with the pep band blaring, preferably Satisfaction, during the pre-game warm ups. After a 10-0 run and a dunk with the other team calling a timeout I sometimes thought I was going to pass out when I would hear the drum start to beat Rock& Roll Part II. There are very few feelings I can associate with pure joy, but being in a packed Anderson with the crowd roaring is one of them, for me at least.ZiggyZoomba wrote:It's an experience unlike any other. Honest-to-God, there's almost nowhere I'd rather be than a lathered up Anderson Arena.
As to the last few years there is the Toledo comeback/Fitch game and also the bracket buster UALR game in which we blew a big lead only to hold on and win in the final minutes which was also a loud and FUN crowd.

Alright....so everyone in here is complaining about the band, about the fans, about nearly getting kicked out....
I have every right to comment on all of these, as I have experience with each of them....
1. The band, I am sick of hearing that the people in band aren't cheering because the team is losing....THATS CRAP! THere is a select few who actually cheered when they were winning!!! Stop hiding behind the wonderful wall of complacency!! Secondly, you are wearing a uniform of the University, you are (I believe) still getting paid. Your azz should be standing and cheering all game. If you dont want to be at the ATHLETIC events, don't be in ATHLETIC band, its that simple. I don't expect you to be a superfan, but don't be useless!!
2. The fans, I remember the Michigan game, and the Toledo comeback and those were amazing, but there were a lot of other good ones. I always was there cheering for both mens and womens ball (even when both sucked) and still had a great time. The one thing that always bothered me though is that no matter how much energy we produced from the opposite side, the pay side never seemed to get too into it as a group. Just how it felt from my perspective. Also, if the University came up with clever promotions to fill seats...perhaps they would....ummm...fill up! Thats all on that!
3. As far as getting kicked out, no one knows better than me!!! Paint your face and immediately everything that is said within 25 feet of you is your responsibility. I am not saying that a good 50% of the incidents were not my fault, but honestly there is a correlation! And, the University and the refs, and the rent a cops get way to up tight. I realized this when they nearly threw me out for my "Toledo is Communist" sign that had a rocket adorned with the hammer and sickle. Now seriously, even if you grew up in the 50's is that really offensive? Nope it isn't, and if you find that offensive you clearly have no idea what communism actually is. The other great one is when the cop threatened to arrest me after he tore up my "you have no chance Ball State" sign. One more story, then I am done. When I won my Mountain Dew Bike, I was standing with Paul Krebs (I know he is gone, but it is a good point) and one of the "paying customers" yelled to the opposing coach that his mother was a filthy whore, and Krebs laughed. When I asked him why they didn't throw him out, he laughed and said see what buying a ticket will do for you.
So, you just have to learn to deal with it!! It sucks, but that is how it works!!
But band, stop whining get off you butts and cheer whether we are up by 80 or down by 80....
I am done with my vent....

And then they went and did their whole halftime show with the hammer and sickle up on the big-screen this year for football...Falcons4Life wrote:...I realized this when they nearly threw me out for my "Toledo is Communist" sign that had a rocket adorned with the hammer and sickle...
