Again, I think this points to Dakich's weird substituation patterns. Polk and Larson started just a few games ago and now Larson didn't play at all last night. Guerin started (and played pretty good imo) yet he didn't play at all last night. What gives?

But I am especially baffled by the big men. On the pre-game he talked up Reitz so much, you would think he would be the difference in the game. If he is their best player, wouldn't you consider just running Polk/Larson/Lefeld out there and use up their 15 fouls beating Reitz up all night? But those three combined for 7 total minutes.

Dakich realizes that we get out rebounded game in and game out yet doesn't appear to do anything about it. It is especially noticable because we are usually playing Miller at PF and he is only 6'4". Then you add a 'soft' Marshchall down low and it pretty easy to figure out why we get out-rebounded consistently.

And I thought Bland was supposed to be a defensive stopper. Gary was lighting it up last night, but Bland played 0 mins as well. Does anyone on this team have a role?

Ahhh yes, CHEAP Channel radio. The company that put an end to my radio career after 10 successful years...as well as countless others. That piece of sh*t company can suck canal water for all I care. CC is about as evil as Disney. I love seeing their stock tumbling every day. OK, done with my rant.

I agree with hammb about the offense. At the Kent game Sat, I couldn't believe a couple players were getting solid minutes that DON'T score. Or, worse, aren't a threat to score and every team knows it. Its as if we're playing 3 or 4 on 5. Dusan comes to mind, for example. I have nothing against him personally but it seems all he does is pass and then stand out there. On D, he's a liability. We have more athletic players so why don't they get more minutes?? I certainly don't have the answers.

5 freakin losses in a row...with each loss, I feel Coach D is giving AD Christopher every reason not to bring him back.

Hopefully they can break this streak at CMU Sat...

Yep, the radio coverage is as bad as the team....

Post by HoopsFan »

Let's look at this....

2006-07 Basketball - broadcast starts 30 minute to tip off

WCWA 1230 AM - Toledo & Bowling Green
WZOM 105.7 FM - Defiance
WPFX 107.7 FM - Findlay & Bowling Green
WZRX 107.5 FM - Lima

Falcon's Nest with Gregg Brandon & Dan Dakich
Monday nights live during the season from Fricker's in Bowling Green at 6:00 p.m. Carried by participating stations of the Falcon Sports Radio Network. The show also includes appearances by coaches from other sports.

Lima Defiance and North Baltimore a trio of 3K watt FM'ers and an AM station that doesn't carry all the games and barely gets out of town at night.

Does Cheap Channel pay US or do we pay THEM for this crap coverage?

Dave Hoerger was going to try to put something together for FB & BB.
It's time.

The problem with this team is they don't freaking score. They played the entire first half as if they were totally dominant. If you were watching the game and not paying attention to the score you'd have thought we were up 10. Instead we were up 1.

Until this team gets some sort of offensive scheme where they don't go 5 minute stretches without scoring they'll never win. It's been the same s**t for 5 years now.

Not only do we suck we're boring as hell to watch, and you have to park 3/4 of a mile away to watch it. People wonder why our attendance sucks? The product is lousy and they make it a chore to partake in it.

Oh well, I'll be back again for more punishment, I'm sure.
I don't know what to say about that game last night. I too will continue to be at AA. I'm usually overly optimistic in everything, but my optimism is finally starting to fade. I don't think this team is un-talented. If anyone else that was at the game last night saw what Marschall can do when he gets the ball in the post, and what Polk can do when he's in the game, there is reason to believe that this team can play. We need a change. The offense doesn't work. When they decided to double-up Marschall in the second half we looked like we had no idea what we were doing. I will stop the rambling...but this should be lineup on the floor the majority of the time.

C - Otis Polk
F - Eric Marschall
F - Nate Miller
G - Martin Samarco
G - Ryne Hamblet / Brian Guerin
Moton, Clements, Leifield, Sims, Larson, Dusan and Bland

They are shooting 1-27 3% from 3 point range
16 for 64 from the floor
They have scored at total of 74 points
They have 15 assists to 30 turnovers

GENTLEMAN FALCONS

Post by HoopsFan »

Unless you plan on calling the men's team the GENTLEMAN Falcons, please don't refer to the women's team as LADY Falcons.

Honest question. When is it acceptable to refer to women's team as "lady Mascot" and when isn't it? Isn't that UT women's teams refered to as the "lady volunteers"? I personally don't distinguish between BG men and women, they're all "falcons". However it does seem that some teams embrace the Lady and others don't.

Thank you. Just what we need...some dumbass emphasizing politically correct word choice, as if the women v. lady distinction is near the top of the questions that matter in the real world.

DUMBASS? Do you know me? Or are you just some flaming a$$hole wanting to start an argument? It goes back to Katie McNulty in about 1985.
We don't have LADY in the team name. We are just FALCONS.

I agree with HoopsFan. I've been biting my tongue every time I've seen the Lady Falcons thing. They're not the lady Falcons, they're the Falcons. I guess you had to be in a few sport management classes to understand. Whenever someone would say "lady Falcons" you could see the steam coming out of the professor's ears. To me, it does sound tacky to say lady Falcons.

*sigh*

I'm just going to lock this one. If you want to discuss the merits of gender equity in nicknames, please do so in the free-for-all forum.

Maybe I should start a name-calling forum where people can just bash each other at will... seems to be what people enjoy most here.....
