Really? That I didn't know. I do know the story behind the spray painted logo, though!

Apparently, in addition to managing all the other equipment needs, Glenn Sharp went to Doyt with a design idea, got it approved, and would go to work painting the stripes and logo on the helmet as a "pet project". Pretty cool, I think.

As for helmets, I like 'em the way they are, but if I was going to change anything, I'd go with this guy:

(without the podcast stuff, of course)

or the "old school" interlocking BG, like the one on the Varsity BG jackets, in brown with a white outline like our current helmet logo.

I think the biggest problem with the design is the facemask. I think the facemask should be WHITE, then go with an orange helmet and brown logo. I don't think the new logo is that bad, its just not as good as the old! But as long as we don't turn into Oregon I'll be happy! :D
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

I have a nice white helmet design with fanged stripes (keeps traditional stripe look but more streamlined), orange facemask, and retail falcon. I will post it soon.

The newer style helmets have a different shape to them They aren't uniform 'round' for lack of a better term. They have a ridge and funky earholes:

I wonder how lond it is going to take someone to make a design that follows the lines of those helmets. Instead of a stripe - do something to fill that raised area which goes from the front of the helmet to the back and then curves forward towards the ear hole.

Here's a pic of the "revolution helmet"

Here is a half-assed color touch up of a revolution helmet. The lines on the helmet sure compliment the retail falcon.

As much as I dislike white helmets, that looks sweet.

I think I'm making it official -- I like the retail logo the best of all three. Traditional is not far behind and Updated traditional is a very distant third.

yea that does look sweet, but i'm with the the "dont change anything" people here...actually on uniforms too... for some reason i just thought we stood out far better with our orange helmets, orange jerseys and orange pants look...you knew who we were when you saw a picture of us. BUT, if they're going to overhaul the whole thing i wouldnt mind seeing a helmet design like that too much...although i think flip-flopped would be better (orange with white)

oh and i just wanna explain something real quick... i intentionaly made the logo kinda blend in because with the new retail logo you have 2 downsides.
the first is a tan beak...just doesnt go with anything and draws the eye when you place it in a sea of orange. second is the fact that the new logo, unchanged, looks like a sticker. now, if someone wants to add a kinda white outline to the black part of the bird inside AND out...kinda a glow type outline that might look cool...
hey everyone! i'm a moron!

Naw, looks way too weird to me. Orange or maybe brown if I could see how that looked.

As one of the resident traditionalist change nothing types, I really like this helmet...pretty sweet. Good job 30.

I cannot stand the new logo, but I gotta say it looks a lot nicer on that helmet than it does on anything else I've seen it on.

Thanks - I know a tiny bit about helmets as I used to work in the Riddell reconditioning place in Elyria one summer (doing office work) and I know that helmets have a long use. Once we all go to Revolution helmets, something like this would look friggin sweet.

I have wanted to do that mock-up for a long time...

That does look pretty solid, 30!

What if there was a thin brown accent line around the curved "stripe"?
