The pitch could be steeper, in my opinion. I don't care for the slope now. And, yet, I'm not sure the current slope is much different from the first deck of Cleveland Browns Stadium.redskins4ever wrote: Its nice to think about... but in reality, with crumbling concrete, leaky facilities, outdated pressbox... all monies should be spent on having at least one side of the Doyt torn down... rebuilt with a steeper pitch... built higher to accomodate 16-17K fans plus a three level press box with suites adn the president's club.
Also: In my nonengineering opinion, a new press box, suites, and additional sideline seating could all be accomplished by just building upward and leaving what exists in place (aside from maybe demolishing the current press box, which is just in the way). My thinking: There is room on both sides to design new seating so that the existing structure doesn't bear the load of new construction.
Moreover, The stadium was originally designed for a small second deck all the way around, which implies the designers built in some capacity to bear weight. Whether that's still possible, 40 years later, I would leave to the engineers.
