WINNER!

I like DD's brown helmet as well. These are rather radical, however.

I also agree with BO. I like the helmet we have now. It looks sharp and does not restrict our players to one type of helmet. As for the logo changes, I am not a fan of the "space ghost" retail logo. It looks too "cartoony", IMO.

Our logo is more like a corporate logo than a cartoon, IMHO. It isn't a 3D design. It doesn't look like something from Marvel.

30, you need to go watch GoodFellas (Ray Liotta = Henry Hill, Joe Pesci = Tommy DeVito):

Henry Hill: You're a pistol, you're really funny. You're really funny.
Tommy DeVito: What do you mean I'm funny?
Henry Hill: It's funny, you know. It's a good story, it's funny, you're a funny guy.
[laughs]
Tommy DeVito: what do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What?
Henry Hill: It's just, you know. You're just funny, it's... funny, the way you tell the story and everything.
Tommy DeVito: [it becomes quiet] Funny how? What's funny about it?
Anthony Stabile: Tommy no, You got it all wrong.
Tommy DeVito: Oh, oh, Anthony. He's a big boy, he knows what he said. What did ya say? Funny how?
Henry Hill: Jus...
Tommy DeVito: What?
Henry Hill: Just... ya know... you're funny.
Tommy DeVito: You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little f***ed up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to f***in' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny?
Henry Hill: Just... you know, how you tell the story, what?
Tommy DeVito: No, no, I don't know, you said it. How do I know? You said I'm funny. How the f*** am I funny, what the f**k is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!
Henry Hill: [long pause] Get the f**k out of here, Tommy!
Tommy DeVito: [everyone laughs] Ya motherf***er! I almost had him, I almost had him. Ya stuttering prick ya. Frankie, was he shaking? I wonder about you sometimes, Henry. You may fold under questioning

Maybe its just me... but I don't own a single thing from Miami that has that stupid logo on it. Its either the classic M.. or it says Miami on it... no birds head... and I attended when we didn't even have a mascot during the first football game of the season!

These new logos are to inspire new sales, its the same reason NBA franchises constantly change colors and logos... and sometimes names... to drive new merchandise sales.

You don't see Michigan going out and changing their logo for anyone... the winged helmet is one the most recognized helmets in all of college football. I will always live by it the motto KISS... Keep It Simple Stupid!

Everyone wants to leave an Imprint on the world, make some huge giant leap, when if they took 10 small improvements they would make the huge giant leap and the overall product would be better. Its the same reason why the Japanese have just about put the Big 3 into the ground, nailed their coffins shut and buried them. The Big 3 want to hit a homerun... when a bunch of singles are just as good.

So...a logo first put on our hats in like 1983 counts as tradition? We aren't Michigan, Ohio State or Penn State. I don't want to be. We have had this helmet for 3 seasons. Ohio State changes it's logo once every 68 years. They do it subtly, but all one has to do is remember: this hasn't been around forever- Image

You could slap a block O on toilet paper and people would buy it. It isn't going to happen at BG. All the bitching on this board about marketing and now we do some....

If we want to have an old-school style, that is great. But just because something has been around a long time doesn't make it tradition. Let's ditch the modern uniforms and go old school, camden yards-style....that would be fine, but it wouldn't be tradition.

I think Oregon having wacky uniforms is a tradition. I think Kent State sucking at football is tradition. Tradition is what you make it.

Our traditions are the colors the name "falcons" and maybe an orange helmet.

I don't agree.

To switch to that, with our cool retail logo lurking about, would be much like choosing a Chalupa -- and leaving Carmen Electra to keep banging on the screen door.

The primary complaint about our current helmets is that it's difficult to gauge what the logo is on television. Put Space Ghost on the side of an orange helmet (with our without the white outline), and we're doomed to repeat the history many of us complain about.

I think this is radically different. But a good different. Put Space Ghost on the sleeves or shoulder pads.

80s, didnt realize that...ive been calling it a relic of the 60s but 80s does make more sense...and not in a good way.

but i do like the old logo, but the new one's much much better.

now, as far as not being able to see it helmets...well they'll see it on the 50, or if we get BOWLING GREEN on our jersey's then they'll know our name there. in long shots you can barely tell what any logo is. the interlocking letters are...well very meh. in 20 years when they roll out a new logo we'll all complain that "space ghost" ties us with the tradition of our program and such.

i like where we're at right now for the most part uniform wise...just some slight upgrades would be beneficial. right now i think our goal should be, besides winning, to update our image so that when we are on tv we attract new fans...especially younger fans. and younger fans, who could possibly become our new omars and joshes, dont give much of a damn about the history of our old falcon, or why our jerseys are plain brown with block numbers. they'll just think its boring. we need to catch some eyes. we've got the sebo, we'll have the turf probably...that helps at home, but modern cutting edge jerseys and logos would attract even more. i like the revolution helmet design (the orange and brown) and i think that would also help, but right now with our budget im putting my money on the helmets staying the same....and the "space ghost" should go on them. perhaps the brown parts should be made white for visibility, or maybe its not that big a deal. but all this talk of returning to tradition and going "simple" is a bad bad bad idea. the alumns who attended during the era we're throwing back to would love it...current fans would mostly probably accept if not like it but everyone else would notice us less.
hey everyone! i'm a moron!

The point is, they SHOULD care. We have a great tradition at BG, and shouldn't shelve it just to sell a few more t-shirts.

I guess I don't think changing our uniform changes our tradition and history.
