Florida WR down to Miami (fl) and BGSU?
In all fairness, we haven't had a good possession receiver since Magner.

Even in our worst season this decade, they still sucked worse than we did. And with the whole analogy with Ohio U (them losing at home and us winning on the road), its clear that they were NOT better than us.
Granted they played better than we did against Ohio State, but they played at home and we were on the road. I think if we played Ohio State up here at the Doyt as opposed to in the horseshoe, we would have fared better than 35-7.

Yeah... I mean, even if we have doubts, I wish we could suspend disbelief a bit.Flipper wrote:Wooldridge...the *** RB who verballed here...has an offer from Illinois. He had that offer and he verballed here anyway.
Your "we suck, everyone is better" attitude mystifies me to no end...
This is a great place to play football. Illinois isn't anything to fear. We've been clearly better, and we'll get there again.

Well I said, if he keeps playing like that then yes I would consider him a gamebreaker. When magner was playing he had other guys on his receiving corps that were considered the gamebreakers. But with the guys we got now, he might just be our gamebreaker, especially if he keeps flyin around the field like he did against Toledo, thats all im sayin. Ill look for Zach Charles to turn into that guy though for the next 3 years, that kid can flat out play ball, just wait and see...moneymaker02 wrote:magner did the same thing yet you classify him as a possession reciever, i was at the toledo game by the way. also, didnt cole have 10 catches against ohio state???? so does that make him a game breaker??

Re: Nice sized wr....
I really dont see how we fair any better if we played OSU at they Doyt. We would probably fair worse because honestly Ohio State took it easy on us at the end and i think its easier to take it easy on someone at home then on the road, although, a game at the doyt would be a home game for OSU anyway be it would be something like when OSU played Northwestern where 75% of NW stadium was scarlett and gray.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Bowling Green 2006 record = 4-8falconboy wrote:Now I know you don't believe that. And this was not our worst season of the decade...we went 2-9 in 2000

It wouldn't suprise me a bit to see Ransom line up in sthe slot some this year. He's the Az Hakim-from-the-year-the Rams-won-the Superbowl prototype of a quick little guy who can catch and run.
Don't forget about Derek Brighton either. He's not the biggest guy in the world, but he has great hands by all accounts

Re: Nice sized wr....
One reason would be that they have a great QB to build around. I think that he will be real special by the time he leaves Illinois. He is not a prototype NFL guy, but he'll be great in college. I can't think of his name off hand, but it is a little odd (Boo maybe?). Again, I still think we'd beat them, but that has to be an attraction.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Why would he want to go to Illinois? I believe you are thinking of Juice Williams. And while I agree he may be very good in the future, he isn't exactly polished right now. I'd say Anthony Turner was probably just as good if not better than Juice Williams was this past season.duckunder53 wrote:One reason would be that they have a great QB to build around. No offense to Partridge, but until he becomes a "go-to-guy" with more consistent play, he won't be that kind of 3rd and long threat Magner was.

I don't think this has much to do with Partridge at all. There were games last season (Kent State sticks out in particular) where Partridge was open on a lot of plays, but Turner just didn't find him, or didn't get rid of the ball on time. Not only that, but in other games (Central Michigan and Akron are examples) Turner seemed to lock on to Kenneth Brantley as his first option. Brantley must have had like 8-9 catches in that CMU game. Partridge really didn't have his best games until the end of the season against Miami and Toledo. That leads me to believe that Turner and Partridge were never really on the same page until the late part of the season, whether that be the fault of coaching or simply they just didn't play well together.BGDrew wrote:No offense to Partridge, but until he becomes a "go-to-guy" with more consistent play, he won't be that kind of 3rd and long threat Magner was.
Assuming Turner is the starting QB in 07, which is not a guarantee, I think you'll see AT and CP hooking up earlier and more often.

Illinois certainly hasn't been better than us on the football field, but Ron Zook is a dynamite recruiter. He has a top 20 class coming in this year, so it's no surprise a player would choose them over us.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Bowling Green 2006 record = 4-8falconboy wrote:Now I know you don't believe that.
