I don't blame him...
If this is true, he should definitely speak out because the OSU athletic department did nothing but wash their hands of him just to save face.
I'm not sure I'd believe him. He has been such a horses rear-end since he got to OSU, why would the world take him seriously. Granted ESPN will pounce on the topic until it is cleared up, but it sounds like OSU is prepared for it.
Frankly the entire thing sounds too well laid out to have come from him. I'm sure his idiot family put him up to it. If there is truth to it, I still think very little of him for just being the spoiled punk he is. I suspect the NCAA would have gotten a wiff of something had there been substance to it.
I won't discount the possibility some of it is true, but I don't expect it to be.

I'm willing to bet atleast 95% is fact. They'll do anything to win at osu and what Maurice outlined is not beneath them. And doing an inhouse investigation doesn't prove anything. If they really wanted to clear their reputation they would've had an independent organization come in with an investigation. Maybe someone like a Univ. Michigan.
I would not believe anything that comes out of the name of Clarett. Being a prinicipal in the youngstown area my brother has dealt with many of the people from the Clarett family. They are all assholes and liars. ...That aside why is he finally bring this up now? maybe because he knows he is already washed up and being injury prone, no NFL team will want him. Plus I don't think he was ever that good anyway. ....I hope this piece of XXXX never plays a down or make a dollar in the NFL. This guy can fall off the place of the planet for all I care.

"We went through a yearlong investigation of our academic programs, everything that [Clarett] has to allege,'' Geiger said. "He vowed to me that he would do something to try to get us and this may be what he's trying to do. So he's on his own.
"We dealt with this guy [Clarett] for 18 months. I just hope you've checked into the background and history of who you're dealing with.''
Geiger didn't make himself look all rosy with this quote. I would hope that I never have to read someone in an adminstrative position at BG talking this way about a former player regardless of what that former player did, said or alleged.
I'm biased against tOSU, so this sounds like attack the messenger and maybe the message will get lost in the noise.
Man, I hate Ohio State!

This is why I'm so glad to hear stories about players coming to the stands after games to say hi to kids, fishing other players out of the locker room after games to sign autographs, posing for pictures, and spending extra time talking to fans. Not saying it doesn't happen at bigger schools, but it gives me the impression that OSU and the like can turn out as many draft picks as they like, but BG is turning out classy young men.Lord_Byron wrote: I would hope that I never have to read someone in an adminstrative position at BG talking this way about a former player regardless of what that former player did, said or alleged.

I have a feeling that a lot of this is not that accurate. I mean this is coming from a guy that hasn't been happy with OSU for quite a long time, has lost a lot of credibility with the people that make the draft decisions in the NFL, and is trying to do whatever he can to try and make himself out to be the good guy and take the fall for OSU. As unhappy as he was right before the championship game his freshman year, why would he just take to fall to save the program. I am not buying a lot of this. The way he is describing it, it sounds like he watched the program one too many times. And the only other guy that he has to back him up is another guy that got kicked off the team for being a criminal also. I do believe that OSU tried to give him easy classes to keep him eligible, but some of the other stuff is kind of fishy to me. Let's look at the source first.
Surprising...
Kdog and I have established that we have ties to the Youngstown area, and although I'm not sure he grew up there, it sounds like his brother could back up the following..
ALl of this is SHOCKING because of the type of guy Tressel is. Being from that area, he was everything to Youngstown when he was there and they won three straight (four overall?) D 1-AA titles...He was a God, and there was nothing of this sort to come out of that program...That's why I kind of take umbrage with the toss Tressell comments. I am anti-OSU as anyone, but I have a feeling Tressel knows little about what goes on behind the scenes there from boosters. He wants to win, but in my opinion, he would not go this route to do it.
Basically, all of the stuff Clarett is accusing, in my opinion, could not have been orchestrated by Tressel.
Having said that, it does seem like he is in a bit over his head down there, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. I hate OSU, but Tressel is certainly not the problem there.
