Hutson makes history for Urban Lutheran

For a national signing day first-timer, Detroit Urban Lutheran really did it up big-time.

More than 30 people were gathered in the school's library Wednesday to witness Raymond Hutson sign a national letter of intent to attend Bowling Green.

Hutson is the first student from the small northwest Detroit school to sign with a Division I school.

Hutson was seated at a table with his mother, Angelica Bright, and father, Raymond Hutson Sr.

The table and backdrop were decorated in the brown and orange colors of Bowling Green.

And when Hutson signed the document, the audience of teammates, family members and faculty started clapping.

"I'm really honored to have that privilege," said Hutson afterward as cake and soda were served and a video of his highlights played.

Hutson, who will play wide receiver at Bowling Green, picked the school because of its "family atmosphere."

As a quarterback, Hutson accounted for 25 touchdowns and more 3,500 total yards in a four-year career. He was all-state his junior and senior seasons, and maintained a 3.73 GPA.
