(sigh) Where to begin.,, Jerrson Davis doesn't need to "make it to school", he's already here. The PK Vrvilo is 260lbs. We didn't sign one OL, we signed two and there's a strong possibility that at least a couple of the DL recruits could find thier way to the OL.
Did you guuys even read the notes from the press conference?

Interesting to note that he wanted to rate us higher, but couldn't because he says we only signed "one" OL. By the handout we were given, it lists two (Bojicic and Dodge) and if he would have done his homework, the writer would also know that the coaches plan on one or two of the DL eventually being OL, as they played both in high school.
Just another "ho hum analysis!

"I don't care how, or why that happens, but getting one OL in a class when you've been struggling in the trenches is a disaster."
I understand that we need to start recruiting Olinemen, but to say that we struggled in the trenches is ridiculous. I think we had one of the best Olines in the MAC last year and this year I think they will be even better.

In their defense, when you look at the scouting services, only Dodge was listed as an OL. Bojicic was a DL. So they didn't scour our specific press conference notes, but they at least did some research.
Now I want to be as positive about this class as anyone, but it is hard to be when you see three outside sources rating it 7, 8, and 11 in the MAC. They know more than I do about the process and what the other schools got. If they say we didn't do good, then I can't argue with it. You may say that all these guys looked great on video, but did you see video of the guys Miami, Toledo, etc got?
And here is another concern of mine, we only signed 16 incoming freshman. What happened there? Did we not have scholarships available or did we not have anybody that wanted them? IF we can redshirt most of these guys, it looks like we will have about 30-35 sophs this season, and about 10 freshman, then about 15 redshirt freshman next year. Given some expected attrition with players leaving, grades, injuries, etc, in three years we're gonna have about 20 kids that are redshirt or true juniors and seniors. I sure don't like how that plays out. We will be using that same "we are really young" excuse we used this season.

That's all well and good, but if you're just going to regurgitate what you read on the services, why not just give us links to what the services say? If you're going to advertise yourself as a source of information on the MAC, I think you owe your readers the time and effort to do as complete a job as possible.
So far as the number of kids signed.. we should probably wait until spring to see who's on board and who's not. That will give us a better idea of the number of scholarships we've used. You can always find kids to take a schollie...I'd rather noit offer one to a kid not deemed worthy than just sign a body to make a number.

You are right, Flip. They definitely could have done a better job. But they at least tried to give their independent spin on it, albeit somewhat flawed. But my point still stands that three independent sources have reviewed our signees and ranked us in the bottom third or half of the MAC.

Buck up , warthog!!!...Tom Lemming and the guy form the Orlando Sentinel rated us pretty highly... And how independent are these guys if they just look at Scot and Rivals?
Here's my take...we signed the top rated 260 lb Croat PK in the MAC this year. That's enough to put us over the top!
We're #1, We're #1!!!!

factman heard Lemnming on the radio.... he posted somehting about it on here. Since he's factman...it's a fact.
Anyway, let's unpack this logically. This so called expert would have rated us higher had we signed more OL. We signed waaay more OL candidates than he thinks...ergo...we must then be more highly rated in his expert and unbiased opinion.

I quit paying much attention to recruiting. We've had plenty of #1 MAC classes, especially lately, and I fail to see any championships.
I'm more nurture than nature in my views on how a program is doing in regards to the quality of football players I see on the field. We haven't been coaching 'em up, which you have to do at this level.
