Only problem...this gives us little time to line up folks to show up.

Also, what is the cost of the two different sizes of tents? Can we get heat and electricity? Will we use it after the game for a post game party?

These should all be contributing factors to the decision.

Heated if we bring heaters, electricity if we bring generators.

Cost isn't the issue IMO...I just want to make sure there will be enough people on board to enjoy it and justify having it. If the weather sucks, it'll be a blessing no matter what, but if it happens to be like last weekend I wouldn't WANT to be in a big dark tent.

I got a tent for a student group I work with earlier this year (SEMO game), and had nothing but good experiences with them, so I'd love the idea. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to go as I'll be with the band all day. Jeff

Jeff, I think we need to get Hayward to have an outdoor field house show over by the tailgaters. That way when we are done, we can all sneak some food in our systems before the game! Just can't let anyone see us eating in our band uniforms...it's just not allowed (besides the 3rd quarter apple and water)!

I love the idea though Grant! I'll try to get over there during our lunch break around 8 or 9 am if you are all there tailgating already :D

I remember back in 2000 and 2001 the band did march over to that side of the stadium for Homecoming and play for the alumni. Problem was, that in those days, we really weren't playing to that many people. I agree it would be a great idea though. And with the schedule like it has been all year, the FMB has been getting to the stadium 45 min. before kickoff as it is, so there's plenty of time to run over there and play Ay Zig, FF, and a few other tunes. My son and I will be there. Definitely like the idea of a tent, especially if we can use it for a while after the game. The noon start means we will have to leave Grand Rapids no later than 7:00 a.m. just to get there by 10:00 a.m. which means a shortened tailgate. A tent for post-game would be great. Will contribute to any cost involved.

Last year we had a tent for the UT game and it was also an early start. We re-convened after the game and were even joined by a few players stopping by and saying hello afterwards.

I will probably just have a "tip jar" to help defray the costs.

Anyone else?? Thoughts??

Tent... great idea.
Getting roped in by Falcon Fanatic to pound a Molson Canadian on top of God knows what else was in my stomach that morning last year... not such a good idea.
Throwing back a "shot" of champagne after the game, again provided by Falcon Fanatic... yep, that was the fatal blow, I believe.

Then again, more beers at Frickers might have gotten me.
And that mini pitcher at Howards probably got me some more.
Watching the hockey team get kicked in the goods by OSU is always sickening...

what were we talking about again?

I know Mrs. Freak would love a tent if it's gonna be cold. I'm good either way. Was a fun time last yr and would be happy to do it again.
I'll have my grill, the freaklings and the Mrs. I bought a ticket for Dana's Step Mom but I doubt she'll use it. We may drive over separately so the boys and I can hang out for a long time after the game. I will be happy to contribute to the jar.

OK, it's all set

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Ok, I just talked with the promotions people and it's all set up.

We will be having a 20X30' tent at the game with 5 tables and 35 chairs. (last year we went with a 20X20' tent and when everyone was there, it was a little tight).

Last year we had things kind of set up as a buffet...I think that worked great! I'd love to have that happen again. We SHOULD have electricity this year, but if not, does anyone have a little Honda generator or anything??

Looking forward to this!!
