We actually counted the number of key changes in that performance. We came up with at least 5...

I feel that SSB should be performed up-tempo: it is an old British drinking song, and it sounds better played that way, IMO.

Personally, if someone else is singing the SSB, I think it's rude to sing with them. If the band were playing, that's different, but someone was given the honor of singing it. If we wanted to hear the crowd sing it, we wouldn't have guest singers do it.
That's probably one of the most unpatriotic things I've heard in a long time.

I'm sorry - this is my nation and I am going to sing the National Anthem regardless of who is performing it.
How the hell is that unpatriotic? As much as I love the SSB and this country, I don't want to impede on someone else singing it.

Amen Brother!

I know that the times I sang I never cared too much if the crowd sang along with me or not. I figured if they wanted to sing it with me, they were going to sing it my way, not American Idol. I just had to be careful not to let them pull me off key, because as I said earlier 75%+ of the people around here (home) are tone deaf.

A few years ago when I was teaching, my school played Glenville in the playoffs. I almost stormed the field to beat the women who took over 3 minutes to "sing" the SSB.

My biggest pet peeve now is the pausing.

"oh-oh say" pause "can you see" pause "by the dawn's" pause "early light"

I am talking like a 2 second break. Nothing is more indulgent, selfish and rude than singing like that. It says - "look at me! didn't I sing those last two words great!" It is the ultimate disrespect to the words of the song.

2 minutes is disrespectful. 2 1/2 minutes is disrespectful and rude to the audience. Anything over 3 should be booed.

The SSB should be completed in 60 seconds, with 90 seconds as a max.

The implication that the person singing the song deserves more honor than the song itself is what strikes me as unpatriotic.

If someone sang that, then you would have a beef....until then...go with the flow!
I love my birds! Go Falcons, Go Jayhawks!!!

Speaking of a disgracefull performance of the SSB, firday's hockey game had both O Canada(Sung) and SSB played by an electic guitar. Nothing against instrumental performances of the SSB, but he messed up and obviouslty had not practiced enough to do it. It waas laughable and the crow, trying to sing wiht him, got lost on a few occasions....

Frankly, it was embarrassing.

i agree with that.. there was a facebook event thing about it too, trying to get people there to hear him play. having a event on facebook to get people there i would of thought it would be better.
