Good observations FalconBlue
From what I've seen and heard, it sounds like Rico is doing a hell of a job with Miami. Knowing we probably can't steal him, he'd make a good model for our next coach.

You are right, but Miami was recruiting a lot of those guys a long time before they built their new rink.ziggy z wrote:when they promised him that new facility, it made his job a hell of alot easier since he could use that as a part of his recruiting pitch. miami is getting all the guys we use to be able to get

Miami's program has been on the rise since 1992 when they landed Gwozdecky as coach and expanded their scholarships for hockey to the maximum level permitted by the NCAA. Enrico was a player and an assistant under Gwozdecky. (Actually, I think Gwozdecky came in 90, but the 92-93 team was the first great Miami team). Each successive Miami coach has come with a winning tradition and/or coaching pedigree. Miami (the Administration) is behind and supportive of their athletic programs and they have strong alumni support.
The truth is ..... that once hockey got support at Miami, it was not hard to recruit players to a warmer climate with a beautiful campus, which is nationally recognized for its academic excellance.
I had high hopes for Paluch when he arrived. He had the playing and coach pedigree. For whatever reason, he has struggled. But that is for another thread. I just don't think Paluch has been able to clean up the mess created by his predessor and the pestilence that continues to infect our once proud program.
