The Chicago Bulls have the second best FG% defense in the league.
Therefore, BG's men's basketball team is good -- end of story.
Just stating facts.

Great recap, 61! Great to hang with falconfan1 as well. BG started slowly but had we hit some "bunny" shots early and Peoples not lighting it up? BG would have won by 35+. It was a PHYSICAL game. It was semi close until about 13 min left and then the Falcons just flexed their muscle.Class of 61 wrote:The Freak, my wife and I sat together behind the Falcon bench (OK, about 15 rows behind).... After a sluggish start with some missed driving layups and losing a LOT of Off. Rebounds to the Flashes, BG came alive...though Kent has three girls 6'2" or taller, with one being 6'5", they didn't really bother us that much inside until later in the game when some pretty neat entry passes got through or over Falcon defenders to the big girls, who finished.
The stars, as far as we were concerned, were Amber Flynn, who just lit it up with some strong post moves and Lindsey Goldsberry, who's just a PEST on D, and chipped in with 12 pts. Kent was led by point guard Kristin Peoples, who was OUTSTANDING from the outside, hitting three 3pointers, two of which were in the air as the shot clock was about to go off, negating some good BG defense. But our balance was absolutely outstanding. If Liz Honegger had hit another three, we'd have had SEVEN double figure scorers!!
I was hoping to see our two freshmen get some time, but only Tara Breske got in , for the last 2 min. or so.... too little time to see or evaluate her. Another fun nite...2nd time we've had a chance to see the ladies play... won't be able to see another until tournament time at the Q.
Almost forgot....another nice turnout of BG fans...guessing 150+ at least.
Won't be able to make it Sat but NO WAY will I miss SR Night Wed. GO FALCONS!!!! 2 more for perfection...again.

The Bulls always have some offense. Our men's team isn't good. The defense plays well, but it doesn't make us a good team.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:The Chicago Bulls have the second best FG% defense in the league.

Leave it at that. You're comparing apples and oranges.

That's not a valid stat when our special teams gave up at least a TD a game. I hate it when people bring up yards against when evaluating defense, because at the end of the day, it doesn't mean jack. You need to look at points against per game.cowboyjoe wrote:My fault...football we were 37th out of 119 in total defense giving up 318 yards a game. I wouldn't say that was $hit defense.
This season our points against was:
Wisconsin - 35
Buffalo - 40 (in 2OT)
Florida International - 28
Kent State - 38
Ohio - 9
Ohio State - 35
Eastern Michigan - 21
Central Michigan - 34
Temple - 28
Akron - 35
Miami - 9
Toledo - 35
Average - 28.91
We had only 3 games ALL SEASON in which we didn't give up at least 4 touchdowns, and one of those games was in a fricking mudpit. We averaged over 4 TDs given up for the season. That's horrible. We would have had to have an offense like that under Jacobs or Harris to produce a winning season giving up that many points.
I don't call this a good defense. We were better on D this year than we were in 05, but don't even tell me that we were good on that side of the ball, because we weren't.
Wait...I thought this was the hoops forum?

Google sarcasm, please.cowboyjoe wrote:What are you talking about? Mens basketball is 24th out of 336 Division 1 teams in Field-Goal Percentage Defense at 39.8%, 78th in steals, and 82nd in blocked shots. Not bad stats for a 2-10 team in conference play.
Note to self: Make an offhanded comment about the ladies team giving defensive instruction and some folks ACTUALLY BELIEVE that I am pitching that as an idea.
That's insane.

freak and 61, great seeing you two at Kent. 61 takes care of the stats. He looks like is seriously involved. Excellent summary of the game above, 61. Freak, you get into the game with wild abandon. I love the Falcon pride on display with your two guys in the back row.
freak, your backwards BG visor was the kiss of death for the Flashes.
See you two guys later. I highly encourage a huge turn out for the BG women vs Ohio game Saturday for two reasons: Ohio has some serious talent and Freddie and Freida Falcon (plus Sic Sic) will be "beheaded" at that game. This is the first time (in my feeble memory) that this has been done at a women's game. So we need the fans to be there to cheer the best women's team in the history of the MAC against a talented opponent and we need to support the great mascot tradition at BGSU.
This "beheading" is done on a late winter weekend with home hockey and bball so this is the one. Turn out and let's get these women ready for the tourney.
Go Falcons!

We'll be there. I'm pumped but kind of sad, too. Not only will these be the last two home games in which we'll get to see the seniors, but it'll be the last 2 home games before we move 3-4 hours away from BG. No way I'd miss these last 2 games. Hopefully we can get some B!G crowds there to see the ladies off in style.falconfan1 wrote:freak and 61, great seeing you two at Kent. 61 takes care of the stats. He looks like is seriously involved.
