Club Goalie on Varsity
My brother, coach of the club hockey team, is proud to report that starting goaltender Kyle Kittelberger has been signed to the varsity team to take Eddie Neville's roster spot. Good luck to Kyle!
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
When is this guy supposed to graduate? I hope we didn't just give someone a scholarship for 3 months.
Also, how does this make Greer feel?

Based on a similar situation where I worked last year, I'm willing to bet that the club goalie kid is there for practices only. And I guarantee he didn't get a piece of that scholarship; if anybody (other than Neville) gets to use the rest of it, I'm guessing it went to someone who was already on the team but not getting any money.
And seriously... if BG is already losing by scores of 5-0 with goalies they recruited in net, do you honestly believe they're going to put a club goalie in there?
Meaning no disrespect to whoever this kid is, I wish him the best. I just don't see him getting any ice time or scholarship money.

I know Kyle a little and have seen one or two games that he's played in for the club team. I'm fairly sure they wouldn't cough up a scholarship for him. He did alright in the games I watched, but I'm kind of surprised by this. Also, as far as I know, he's gotta be at least a junior, because I met him my freshman year.

Goalie is the easiest transition for a player going from Junior B to Junior A, Club to DI etc. Mich St has called up a goalie from their club team as well as Ohio St. both goalies have found permanent roster spots. In some cases for a capable goalie its easier to move up because of better coverage and less defensive breakdowns in front of you. When the Devils were allowing around 13 shots a game in the mid '90's Im sure on some nights a good HS goalie could have notched a win.
About 4 years ago the starting goalie on the club team was offered the third spot on varsity over Jason Gural but after a good showing in the orange and brown game declined to be the starter on the club team.

Does the club team have a team website?jpfalcon09 wrote:He'll be participating in practices and will not be dressed for the games this weekend, but it's still a great experience. The club team has their tournament this weekend at Lindenwood College in Missouri, I'll let you guys know how they do.
Falcon Hockey...Re-building the tradition!
I hate to be the one who says this but the club kid won't see a game. Honestly it would be better for him to have stayed on the club team becuase he would have at least played there. We had a similar situation when I was there where we picked up the club goalie when prushnick left. He never saw 1 second of playing time. I feel bad for this kid becuase the coaches probably pumped his tires and so that he is expecting to have a chance to play. The fact of the matter is, is that Spratt will play everygame from here on in. I feel bad for the kid.
GET RID OF POOCH!!!
I think that is pretty much understood...he is there to give jimmy and phil a rest in practice and still went to play in the conference tournament this weekend with the club team. It isn't like Crazy's situation at all because Crazy wasn't even the starter on the club team. Know what's going on before you post.
