We got SCREWED!!!
You'd think that the MAC wouldn't try to screw over their nationally ranked b-ball team with ridiculous officiating, but that's what happened today.
How many times did OU players take 5 steps going in for layups in the final 5 minutes?
How many times did our players get called for bullshit fouls for just breathing on their players at the top of the key?
How long were they going to wait before calling that foul with 7 seconds left?! 5.5 seconds?! Are they crazy?!
Yeah, I'm pissed. I think the MAC hates Bowling Green. First our football scheduling and our bullshit losses to Akron every year. Then the Men's Basketball fiasco against Buffalo, now our women's team gets the shaft on our home court where a change in any of the calls mentioned above probably wins us the game.
f**k THE MAC!@!!

I would say that the refs sucked. They let the teams play in the first half (BG only had one foul in the entire first half).
The second half was when the screws got tightened. I don't see how Achter got called when pushing through a screen. I thought there were some HORRIBLE calls.
The keys to the loss were going 50% from the charity stripe (2nd half) and pushing horrible shots. OU played very well with their ball control. Silva was playing out of her mind. OU played over their heads in my mind and that can always happen in MAC play.

I was hoping that I wouldn't see all the excuses pop up after today, we weren't the better team on this afternoon. It happens.
We didn't make FTs, they did.
We didn't have our usual defensive effort, how many easy buckets did OU get?
It just wasn't there today, for whatever reason. If you want to blame the refs, you're just searching for an excuse.
We had our opportunities at the end of the game, and the ball didn't drop, can't point your finger at any player, we just didn't get it done as a team today at Anderson.

I would be more upset with the officiating if our shooting percentages were where they usually are. But shooting right around 20% from behind the 3-point line and under 50% from the floor will kill you, and it did. We took some questionable calls, but if we hit our shots like we are capable of doing this doesn't happen. Now for the good news, THE PRESSURE IS OFF! We have had our gut check and can now get past it and refocus on the MAC tournament. Let's just leave the NCAA on the back burner for now. GO FALCONS!!!!!

Great post, Journey. Even if the officiating was questionable which it could have been, We didn't hit our shots today. OU...........
Frankly if this is the best that OU can do against us after they play out of thier minds and we play pathetic and shoot ridiculously horrible for the game then I'm not worried at all in the next games vs Miami and the Mac Tourney. Think, it took an absolute abysmal effort in the 1st half, torrid shooting from 3 land foule line and just about everywhere else and questionable refs to give them a 3 pt win. As much as I hate this loss with the white hot hate of a million suns, I'm still confident as ever.

OU played us tough in Athens too, so to act like this was something completely unexpected, than you're lost. Miami wasn't an easy win either (only won by 8). This loss should sting, but we need to get over it this weekend and come back harder than ever in practice Monday and Tuesday to get ready for Miami on Senior night.

Well....great crowd attendance not always great crowd effort. You may wonder what the hell I'm talking about but if you regulary attend these games you'll notice 60-75% of the crowd not clapping getting into the game much at all. All the noise that we hear and what we heard today ( and it got pretty loud today) at AA is from about 300-400 fans mabye, the rest just sit on their duffs with blank expressions on their faces. I'm apologize for my intense caring so much but stuff like this PO's me off to no end. It probably shouldn't but it does. We haven't even come close to tapping the decibel level in Anderson. The great thing is about Anderson is that it doesn't always take the whole 1,500-2,000 fans to make Anderson pretty loud, but noneless we're not tapping out the potential in the slightest.manager wrote:

Sorry there are only maybe 20 spots to stand up on the sideline...seriously, just SHUT UP! Everyone who comes to the game isn't going to be roudy and loud all game, some people enjoy sitting and watching a game. I could care less what fans are doing in the stands, they are coming out to support our team, and that's what matters most.falconboy wrote:Well....great crowd attendance not always great crowd effort. But I guess to be a real fan you have to wear orange wigs and stand on the sideline, if I had my way, we'd move your asses so people can actually see the whole court.

And hence, we have students vs townies summed up in these two posts.bg_bball wrote:Sorry there are only maybe 20 spots to stand up on the sideline...seriously, just SHUT UP! Easy now. Being one of the people who stands on the sideline with a wig, you didn't see me calling anyone out for not being a 'real fan', did you?bg_bball wrote:But I guess to be a real fan you have to wear orange wigs and stand on the sideline, if I had my way, we'd move your asses so people can actually see the whole court.
Yeah, sometimes we'd like to see/hear more support from the stands when things are getting tight. It's not a whole heck of a lot to ask. Yeah, some people freak out (and I know I have said a thing or two in the past), but to trash all of us on the sidelines for the words of one person is no better than trashing the whole rest of the arena because some people prefer not to stand.
In my opinion, the fans on the sideline are one of the best things about AA. I guess that's not a universal attitude, but you can bet your AZZ I'll keep doing it. You support the team your way, I'll support them my way.
**edit**: I don't want anyone to think I'm ragging on any particular group of fans. If you're there, you're gold. Obviously something's going well. We had an incredible home win streak and the attendance numbers are amazing. Everyone do your own thing and let it be what it is.
