The refs were very poor, but our players lost the game. Ohio played great ball, and we didn't.
In a roundabout way, this was a good thing. It's a perfect opportunity to get re-focused going into the MAC tournament, and put the chip squarely back on our collective shoulder.
As I said at the game, I feel REALLY bad for Miami.

Roll Along!
That statement there could lead to an entirely different thread. I'm sorry but I can't even pull myself to stand by any of you but 2 or 3 people down there. You don't start cheers, you follow the ones that are started out of tempo, and the yelling at the refs instead of supporting the team doesn't get you anywhere. It's turned into a stand and chat while yelling at the refs situation.falconboy wrote: Hey, I don't wear an orange wig and I'm a real fan.
Orange wig or not, you act like you are in a class above all other fans in attendance. How well can you hear the games from outside the gates before halftime? Or with the headphones on? Just wondering...
There's no need to slam people for not standing up...ever. If you want the crowd to be more intense, try getting them involved instead of slamming them for what they aren't doing to your liking.

So freaking sue us if we'd like to see/hear more support from the stands when things are getting tight. It's not a whole heck of a lot to ask. Yeah, some people freak out (and I know I have said a thing or two in the past), but to trash all of us on the sidelines for the words of one person is no better than trashing the whole rest of the arena because some people prefer not to stand.
In my opinion, the fans on the sideline are one of the best things about AA. I guess that's not a universal attitude, but you can bet your AZZ I'll keep doing it. You support the team your way, I'll support them my way.

It's so funny, because some of the people on Rebkell seem to think that if we lose in the MAC tournament that we might not even reach the NCAAs now because of our loss today. I challenged every poster on that board to name 34 at-large teams better than us, and I was laughing my azz off at some of the teams they were putting up past #20.orangeandbrown wrote:That was a hell of a run by our team. One loss doesn't change a thing.
Contrary to what you might believe, the Rebkell boards are a pretty good community for WCB I think. But when teams in the top 25 lose, they hammer them pretty hard, and I guess we're no exception.

2-11 on 3's today.bobio wrote:Didn't get a chance to see the game. Though it will hurt in the polls, I think it will be good for the team. They now see that no game is a given, even at home. Did they attempt alot of 3's? It appears to me that when they do, the results are not that fantastic.

folks...the effort was there today but the results weren't.. Please...as your moderator and buddy...ok, for many of you i'm more of a passing acquaintance...or perhaps and irritant...anyway. The ladies came up a little short. Don't let one loss get you down and don't let one loss turn you into a bunch of dicks. I will lock, mock and if need be delete.
Let's gear up for senior night...it's going to be a very emotional evening for a lot of people and i'm looking forward to giving the seniors and the rest of the team the right send off heading into the tournament.
the last thing we need is to start squabbling

With poor defensive play and what seemed to be tired play from some of our big scorers if we did pull it off the win was going to be at the last second.
Give OU credit for keeping their Big girl on Liz everywhere on the court. OU played some good weak side defense... we did not.
17.7 seconds left in the game BG has the ball under their basket down by 1. We get the ball in play and expect our 5'7" skinny PG to drive to the basket w/ OU's Towers in the middle... We had time to run a play! We could have run the time down to get a high % shot and win by 1, instead we drove to the basket and lost the ball...
Today's game was not the outcome any of us wanted...
A dose of reality has hit not only the team but the fans. That being said, we can look at this loss as a good thing. I'd rather it be a loss now than in the MAC tournament or for that matter the NCAA tournament.

You bring nothing to the game more than anyone else in the arena just b/c you stand on the sideline. If anything, you are just in the way of people who'd like to see the game. I'm all for enthusiasm - but people watch the game differently. If you want to chant and scream all game, great...if you want to sit quietly and watch the game closely, good for you. As long as you're rooting for the orange and brown, it's cool with me. The attitude of this sideline squad is the reason I can't stand the group.
I agree and disagree with you...93SbMACChamps wrote:With poor defensive play and what seemed to be tired play from some of our big scorers if we did pull it off the win was going to be at the last second.

Silva brought her A game yesterday, she showed range that isn't typical of her game. She's long and athletic, something that we've seen Liz struggle against over the past few years.
As for the final inbound play, I have to argue that we got one heck of a good look. The ball was inbounded to Liz on the block, she handed off to Kate curling around her and she leaned in for the shot. Kate led us in scoring yesterday, and I'll take that shot over pulling it out and setting up something for the last shot. We never had to move the ball outside of 6 feet from the basket on that last possession, which is hard to argue against. And even after she missed, she grabbed her own board but was pinned deep under the hoop. With no timeouts, Kate made a very tough wrap around pass on the baseline which ______ (Ali?) couldn't even see coming when she sealed the opposite block. We got good looks IMO, but the ball just didn't roll our way.

Well, if our big scorers namely Liz or Ali were getting tired then I don't know why Coach Miller still see's no need get Breske some playing time even in these tight crucial games. Breske's got the athleticism to play good D and I don't see why she couldn't have helped dramatically in alot of instances yesterday.93SbMACChamps wrote:With poor defensive play and what seemed to be tired play from some of our big scorers

In our tighest game of the season, you're looking to an inexperienced freshman to replace Ali/Liz? I think Amber should've been even more involved, but I don't think throwing Tara into the mix yesterday would've been great based on her experience thus far. Just my opinion though.falconboy wrote:Well, if our big scorers namely Liz or Ali were getting tired then I don't know why Coach Miller still see's no need get Breske some playing time even in these tight crucial games. We sort of had this conversation about the Women's team on Friday and then they go out and finally lose one. The team still needs a big kid in the center. Yeah, I know that Liz can shoot the 3 and <insert your name here> can post up. It all comes down to the fact that WE need to bring our "A" game to go on in the NCAA's. Now if we can borrow somebody tall from the MAC, we'd have a much better chancebg_bball wrote:In our tighest game of the season, you're looking to an inexperienced freshman to replace Ali/Liz? That said, let's start another 38 game streak! Coach, go out and get a big player!
