Not so many BG Stars in AFL

Post by BGfootballfan »

Not good news for Cole and Josh's football playing future. Is it time for both of these guys to join the BG staff yet? Even as Grad assistants they could get a free master's degree.

Destroyers Cut Down Roster To 22

Destroyers to kickoff season on Thursday, Mar. 1 against the Nashville Kats; 10 players return from 2006 squad

COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Destroyers, presented by Germain, have cut their roster to 22 players for their season opening game against the Nashville Kats on Thursday, March 1. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (ET) at Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville. The Destroyers will make their home debut on Friday, March 24 against the defending ArenaBowl Champion Chicago Rush on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

To meet the AFL roster limit, the Destroyers have made the following moves. The team activated defensive back Rober’ Freeman from the Refused to Report list and re-signed quarterback Matt Nagy and wide receiver David Saunders. The team has placed the following players on the Injured Reserve list: quarterback Josh Harris, offensive linemen Juan Porter and Greg Walker, and wide receivers Tony Locke and Marcus Knight.

The Destroyers have waived the following players: defensive linemen Elliott Harris and Shane Jones; defensive backs Matt Jackson and Justin Perkins; linebackers Adrian Mayes, Jermaine Petty and Brian Thornburg; and wide receivers Cole Magner and Mark Philmore.

The 22-man active roster includes ten players returning from a 2006 squad that helped the Destroyers to their best finish in franchise history. In addition, four players will make their debut in the AFL.

WE BELIEVE that you can never get enough football. Season tickets for the 2007 season are now available starting at $99 by calling (877) COLS-AFL or by visiting www.ColumbusDestroyers.com.
