At first glance sounds like decent hires. How ironic that we get a linebackers coach from FIU! He's been with the Miami(FL) as well , and maybe this guy could get us some more speedy linebackers from down there. Well thoughts guys?

That last guy is a UT graduate! :x But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt! Hopefully they can help get this team headed in the right direction! Looking forward to next season! :D

New hires look solid, but WHO will coach the Oline? With Kory back as the leader of the group I dont antisipate much of a drop off, but we need someone in there that can get our boys better in the trenches.

And it looks like we lucked out with this LB coach. he may have jumped ship at FIU and UM when things got bad. His resume speaks for its self.

These look like very good hires. Coach Bird was the passing game coordinator and WR coach under RICH RODRIGUEZ at West Virginia...Rich f'ng Rodriguez is an offensive God.

Hargreaves worked at Miami coaching LB's....guys like Dan Morgan and Jonathan Vilma. Wow...you think Eugene Fells, Brandon Jackson, Gary Wright and and Chris Youngare gonna beneift from that guy's experience?

Coach Phiilips worked at OSU and has 15 years coaching at the HS level in Ohio...I wonder if that will assuage the guy who emails Brandon ROFO (recruit Ohio football only)

Those are the things that jumped out at me, Flip. New coaches are like new recruits. They always sound good but ya never know til you see them in action. On the surface, it looks to me like all 3 are quality hires. Maybe we'll see the fire and swagger we used to have with new blood. Let's see what they can do before judging.

As far as Phillips being a UT guy? That's a tough one but he will bring a new perspective to the BG/UT game. We definitely need to address the urgency of winning that game every year. I'm sick and tired of losing to those guys. Period. 9 of the last 12...nuff said. Seriously.  ENOUGH!!

Ummm....sorry about that. ;-)

And Bird? What better name to be a Falcon coach? :-D

For a team that BARELY cracked 2000 yards through the air last year ;)

Seriously, they sound like good hires all around. Hope they can come here and teach these guys some fundamentals and get us playing good, strong football again. I'm especially hoping for good things from Hargreaves. The U put out some good LBs while he was there. Hopefully he can get these guys to wrap up and tackle.

Freak and Flipper, you couldn't be more right. You must withhold judgement just like recruiting, but at first glance, I see an upgrade at every position.

Not only does Bird have WVU connections, he came from an offense at EKU taken straight from the Louisville Cardinals, one of the most successful college offenses of the past few years.

Hargreaves gives us an immediate Florida and South Florida recruiting presence with his connections aside from being a phenomenal linebackers coach. He left Miami because of a disagreement with their DC, who wanted to sit back and play zone while Vernon wanted to unleash his athletes and pressure via the blitz. I know I want a coach with the latter philosophy.

Doug Phillips knows Ohio high school football up and down and probably beat out 350 hungry coaches who wanted that OSU position. Jim Tressel only hires guys that are extremely competent and can help a team win big. Whatever he can bring to rekindle the passion of our players to crush UT is much appreciated as well.

This team needed a swift kick in the a** and a fresh perspective after last year and I really think this new staff is going to bring just that.

Nice job Gregg Brandon. I don't think he could have gotten anybody else with better resumes.

Everything worked out fine for Wisconsin last year after hiring a dreaded Iowa guy as head coach, so I'm not concerned about a UT grad (unless it turns out that he's Amstutz's mole). :P
