(Have you seen a senior class like this Bowling Green class?)
"That's a tough question. I'm an Ali Mann fan. ... Ali Mann makes that senior class that senior class. I think Ali's the Player of the Year; I mean, she's exceptional. Whenever it's a crucial moment, competitively, she's the one that takes over ... She is the kind of player that is going to be tough to replace."
Jealous? No.
Envious? Yes.
My money says she votes Ali for POY.
Something else I liked about last night -
On 'Senior Night' at Anderson, the Falcons' five active seniors combined for 73 of BGSU's 92 points. Two of those seniors, Carin Horne and Ali Mann, scored 23 and 22 points, respectively.

Yeah, and I think the sky is blue.
These jealous coaches better not screw this team come awards season.
I just read her whole quote. You are taking it out of context. She is speaking only for herself which is why she said "I think". To not say it that way would be appointing herself as the official voice of the conference coaches.
She stated her opinion in a very respectful and complimentary way. Not a hint of jealousy. Just admiration.
Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive, but I still have a different read on it.
It's a given that she's speaking for herself even if she had excluded the "I think" comment. I don't think the MAC office would have heard these comments and cancelled the coaches vote on the spot based on such a proclamation.
It would be impossible and completely classless to *not* compliment Ali in that situation, and it just seemed like it was deliberately worded to leave some wiggle room. There were multiple ellipses in that press conference transcript, BTW, so we still don't have the complete context.
Anyway, it's not the biggest issue in the world, and some resentment is to be expected given BG's dominance over the last few years. I just want our players to get the recognition they deserve.
Here is the quote they had in the Sentinel Tribune yesterday:
"NOT SOLD: While many would consider BG’s senior class one of the best in MAC history, Miami coach Maria Fanatarosa isn’t sold on the depth.
“I’m an Ali Mann fan,” Fantanarosa said. “If Ali Mann is not in that senior class, are we talking about their senior class right now? You can argue with me that Carin Horne can carry them, but is Liz going to carry them? Ali Mann makes that senior class that senior class.”"
While see seems to be praising Mann, she sure is dissin' the other Seniors, don't ya think?

Wow...absolutely. Now I see why the SID included the ellipses.
No interpretation needed on this one. She slams Liz Honegger, questions the ability of a 1,200 point scorer (Carin Horne) and takes an indirect swipe at Thorburn and Flynn.
This should go right up on the bulletin board along with that quote from the Ohio player for the MAC tournament.

Boy I'll tell ya, those Miami players really thought they were hot stuff. Not only did they think they would come into AA and win Wednesday night, but they were belligerent about it. Between #10 getting into Liz's face after a block, them bumping us constantly at the top of the key, and now their coaches comments, they have a bit of an inferiority complex I'd say.

Yeah, especially since Miami decided it was "Impersonate Michael Jackson Day" and molest Kate Achter every time she brought the ball up the court.
