Tonight Jimmy was not at his best and without Unger's 4 goal individual effort, the offence was helpless. I would also say where the H has Unger been all season?
Where was Matsumoto, Kantola and Brandon Svendsen. Jimmy Spratt had to face 38 shots, where was the defense?
In fact where was the coaching?

Unger was out most all of the season with a wrist injury.
I have to say that, that was an exciting game and it again showed that with our team back healthy and on the ice we can play with anyone. I am sad that we were not treated to this caliber of hockey all season as I had thought, but no can forsee injuries and sickness. I can say to the rest of my fellow Falcon Hockey supporters, the past few weeks have been a look at things to come. This team will not again see the bottom of the pile for some time, we have the tools and while we did not win this weekend and finished in last place. We will be in the running next season...yea I know for many the next season saying is crap...but it is for real, these kids have the fire and to the seniors i am sorry the season ended like this but, THANK you all for hard play, and work ethics both on and off the ice. to incoming Freshmen I look forward to seeing you learn, grow and help this team as we make our run next season. i predict...and i know its early.....that we make the show next year! You all want it, and show that, and I know you know how to earn it.

i wish I could have seen the games, i heard from a valued old time falcon that you played like a real monkey, and reminded him of

Mike Liut....Keep it up!

For how many years do you want to keep saying that next year will be better? You may be an optimist but I'm a realist and without a major reorganization of the Hockey program BGSU is heading to a third year in the basement of the CCHA.
You can blame injuries and illness all you like but it’s only a tiny factor in the state of BGSU hockey. If you know of any DI hockey coach that has performed this badly over a period of 5 years and then gone anywhere with that team, I would like to hear of it. There cannot be many, if any in DI.
Let’s not be blind, we have a serious problem and it’s not me speaking, it’s the RECORD that tells one how bad BGSU hockey really is. Some of our supporters will die defending the coach; I think he has to be held accountable because he is the Boss.

First your right. we are in the pits. the team coaches included and all the players will not be next year.
This program has been in a spirial since a former equipment mgr was named HC to save some money. THAT IS THE STATE OF THIS PROGRAM. I am not against, nor do I not believe in people being able to grow in to being a HC, but i am dead set against it when the only reason that person gets that job is to save some money and more so because any person who is groomed who is worth a dam will and needs to go els where. This program got flushed when Powers hired...The first indicators came even earlier when Ron left...he left for money and the PROMISe he could become the AD soem day. This back when we were on top. You can not say much against jery, he never would mince words and let it be known the east coast was where he wanted to be. But we did not even try to compete to keep him.
We have the lowest paid coaches period. As for Scott he won a championship with Jerry, he is a Champion, he won Championships with Jerry, to say his methodologies are Crap is lunacy. Now can we expect Champaign on beer budget... yea but even the best bubblies not from France are just sparkling wine. Meaning if you dont ponie up for the real stuff its not real, and what we have right now, right now on a bus in Nebraska is a good crop of grapes. You can not deny that. For as far as this program has spiraled due to MONEY and the lack of injection and reinvestment we have good grapes, and while they wont be Dom next year, they will be in the family and Moet is what they will be.
the Coach is not to blame. An AD no longer here, a President and others who first let a great guy go, who then anointed an equipment mgr as HC are to blame.
Should one want to wine and toss blame for our lot in life. the current coach is coaching how he was coached and growing a team out the best players willing to come this school. Much like the state of D1 football the big bucks and flash are on top. When we were new and flashy and a founders we were consistently in the mix, now that other schools inject all their marbles in some cases in hockey they are rising to the top and staying there...do you think football will loose any funds even though they will NEVER compete for a national title in anything...no because that is football, more folks etc...yof know...
its late I have a sick kid and Im tired so forgive the ramblings and excesive use of metaphors... but de damed, be damed anyone who thinks that this coach, and these players are not competitve, and that they are not because of poor coaching, or bad players....yea I hear both and both are bunk. This is BG, and our hockey program is strong....as for a team that sucked eggs and came to the top....look no further than ND...Changing coaches cause of rough times says one thing, and one thing only, youll never apreciate the good times. That is not to say ever bus ride doesnt come to an end. But 5 years is not even ride, "I CRAP BIGGER THan that" Curley movie city slickers

one bad dude right there...with fists the size of cantaloupes...wow that was 27 years ago ....to long...bring back the AMATURES and drop the pros...I think that coach had it right when he is quoted in that movie talking about dream teams and why they fail...somethign about best people and right people...
BGSU has the right people riht now lets see what happens...

Scott Paluch career postseason coaching record = 0-10
How many more years are we going to have to put up with this s**t?!
Back on Monday, I issued my prediction for this series, saying that we would be out in 2 straight. But I'll be the first to tell you, I'm not an expert. Anybody with half a brain could have seen this one coming, especially after the whole fiasco in Iowa just getting to Omaha. Yet for the whole week I sat back and held my tongue as I watched all of you post your orange and brown-covered predictions of competitive glory, most of you either predicted us to win or at least take one game in the series. Optimism is a good thing, unless if it is completely blind and only serves to set you up for the inevitable letdown coming your way. Us losing this series was freaking inevitable, we never had any chance from the start, especially once we got stuck on the way there. They had outscored us 20-3 in the four games we played them this season. Now this is two straight years now we've gone out to Omaha in round 1 and have gotten our behinds kicked.
Truthfully, I'm just glad we got out of dodge without getting completely embarrassed. We played pretty well on Friday and probably should have won the game. Today was uglier, of course. All things considered, I think we played pretty well this weekend. The only problem was, 3-2 and 7-5 losses were the BEST case scenario for us.
MACMAN, I disagree with just about anything you write anymore. The fact is that we just completed what could have been the WORST SEASON IN THE HISTORY OF FALCON HOCKEY! You keep talking about how Scott Paluch is such a great coach and how we are headed in the right direction as a program. With Spratt playing better down the stretch, we might do a little better next year b/c of him, but here's my point.
I don't see one reason why Paluch is a good coach. Not one. Not our win-loss record, not our gameplanning, not our recruiting, not our players' conduct off the ice, NOTHING! And though I'm skeptical of posters like freddythefalconBG and Bigdog, if what they say about Paluch's treatment of the players is true, I'd run him Paluch out of town on a rail tomorrow. You cannot act abrasively and cold toward your players, or you'll lose them. That goes for any level of sport. I just hope that this isn't the reason why we've been losing like we have.

....time...give it time....
this has not been enough
relax
it took 20 years to spin down to this...it wont be fixed in 2, 3, 4 5....but now and Im sorry that season had the misfortune of being stricken with injuries and illness but the end of this season should have shown where we are to you. It does to me, this team is way better than last...YES COACH included
hold your breath bit your tong what ever....but at year 7 that is where all can be told...this 4 3 5 year coach change train is to short, and intelligent people know that you can repair change or convert programs in that short a time.
Have some pause.
Great weekend guys, you played really well. Keep moving forward.

and isnt it odd...that the univ is more interested in changing a Nationally recognized logo than working on there best marketing tools...sports
What next...do we change the fight song to make it more modern...how about to more than a woman....or pretty in pink...or how about the schools colors...metal flank pink and chameleon are far more cool than brown or orange...and BGSU is real long...why not something hip...like DA O.
and call me crazy but if the cafeterias had free fry Fridays, i bet they could boost enrollment...heck the dean of the college of Biz could probably get published writing a case study on that one....

Just for the record, I never said to get rid of the guy (I would if he is treating players badly, but I don't know this to be true). I'm just concerned about the overall direction of the program because I've only got 2 more years at BG before I move on here. I hope you are right and that Paluch leads us to a good season in the next 2 years before I leave BGSU. I don't have much more time to hold my tongue.MACMAN wrote:....time...give it time....

I do realize that building a program takes time, but how long should it take? He IS coaching solely his recruits now.

I believe in a rule of 7's on many things and in this case 6 is to short, and at 8 you realy know what you have.
I believe that in these cases at 7 years that 7th year you will see all. who has been recruited, the style of play, and future recruits, years 1-4 mean nothing at all realy...there is no genius if the team wins no issue with stumbling in year 5 but production would be nice, but if it doesnt happen looke beneath and see whats cooking. year 6 sets the stage for year 7. and that is my position.
i see a load of talent on this tteam returning, and I see some hot talent coming in.
i see coach with a vision for how he wants the game played. I like the direction, I like the coach and trust him.
Pause for one more year and a half. Positivity and enthusiasm breed positivity and enthusiasm.

Did you seriously just say, "Just for the record, I never said to get rid of the guy..." i have heard you say on numerous occasions that you want to boycott the program until Coach Paluch is gone. Now i agree with MACMAN on the point that this team has had to endure a lot of trial and tribulations with injuries and such. The truth is that this team has about 15 freshman and sophomores and we only had 2 seniors this past year. There is no where to go but up for this program now and instead of slamming the team now that the season is over, just look toward the furture and know that a turn around like this has happened before, look at Notre Dame, who is the regular season CCHA Champions.bgsufalcon24 wrote:Just for the record, I never said to get rid of the guy (I would if he is treating players badly, but I don't know this to be true). 7 years! That's where it's at. And we offer just as good a workout as the 8-year folk. If you're not happy with the 7-year plan, we'll send you the eighth year for free!MACMAN wrote:I believe in a rule of 7's on many things and in this case 6 is to short, and at 8 you realy know what you have.

The 6 year plan is no good -- Who turns a program around in 6 years? You won't even get your heart goin', not even a mouse on a wheel. 7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 doors. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.

You are a good man MACMAN but . . .
I'm not going to say that I don't see some of the points you bring up, but how can you tell me that Paluch hasn't had enough time? Do they really not have the scholarships that other teams have? Is there a reason that a Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Lake Sup. State or Western Michigan should be able to out recruit us every single year?
He's been here long enough. Without saying the ex-players are right or wrong with what they say about Pooch, isn't the record all you need. Another season will be more of the same.
If Paluch stays around and the Falcons post a winning record, I'll buy you a beer and some grub at Mr. Spots if you'd like.

Is there anyone else you want to throw under the bus MACMAN? It seems to me you are looking at a bad situation and are trying to blame EVERYONE except the head coach. Some blame must fall on his shoulders, yet you put none there. You would rather take swipes at former coaches, past and currant presidents and athletic directors, and anyone else you can think of. A drastic change is needed. But without enough alumni and other boosters coming up with money to buy Pooch out of his remaining 2 years I do not see that change being behind the bench. You obviously do not think anyone in the BGSU administration is doing very well so I want to challange you to man up and put your name into the ring next time a job opens up. You obviously have various degrees in administration, business, sports management, fund raising, and communication. Maybe you have doctorates in all of them. And your list of accomplishments must be miles long. So either put up or shut up. There is plenty of blame to go around here, but it has to be assigned fairly.
