With Western Kentucky now in 1A as an independent until they join the Sun Belt, maybe the MAC should take WKU in and put them in the West. Of course, that would take care of east-west balance issues in football (7 each), but we would probably get all WKU sports, which creates a balance issue in all other sports (7 west, 6 east because we have Temple just for football).

We could take in Temple for all sports, but they don't want to leave the A-10 for basketball.

Better plan - ditch Temple. Let them join C-USA or do whatever ...

MarkL: WKU was very open about its desire to join the MAC, but the conference didn't extend the offer. As for ditching Temple, that's just not going to happen. We can all gnash our teeth about the MAC's inexplicable expansion decisions (or, in WKU's case, non-decisions), but don't expect them to suddenly change course.

Another note on Temple, IIRC, they reached out to C-USA and were politely rebuffed. If they had a choice between the MAC and C-USA, they likely would have chosen the latter.

As much as we like to rag on CUSA, I think almost every school would choose them over the MAC, travel costs be damned.

This is true without doubt, and if we were truly polling our own conference members, some would make the same choice.

Why didn't GC thank Chryst in his comments? He is going to be in big trouble for that slight..... :P

Seriously though, congrats to Christopher for his work on this.

Miami publicly sneered at the idea a couple of years ago. I sneer today.

Yes, congrats to Christopher for his efforts. And congrats to the raccoon I ran over last weekend around midnight Saturday. That was a sterling impression of a speedbump.

Yes, because a 7 team conference will keep us around D1 much longer...
and being a part of D1 is oh so important esp when you consider the fairness and equality taken in to place for the championship...oh wait...THERE ISNT ONE!!!!! D1 elects a champion because its better for the the few conferences that are part of that system.
yea...thats great.

Even without every being a "Nat'l Champion" being in D1 provides more money and publicity than not. It is extremely important that BG is in D1. Any college president will tell you being D1 is a huge benefit to a college. that is why D1 Playoff schools are MOVING UP to D1 Bowl Series, and NOBODY IS MOVING DOWN>
