Ben Holland was fired at USD.
Interesting that schools with smaller athletic budgets than ours are able to fire their coaches when appropriate, but we always have to wait until the contracts expire to make a change.

Well of course it's easy to fire this Ben Holland guy. What they should have done is fire Brad Holland.San Diego Falcon wrote:Ben Holland was fired at USD.

I really don't understand the move to get rid of Brad Holland. He had winning record this year (18-14), made a NCAA tournament appearance, and finished 24 games over .500. It sounds like USD has an over-inflated view of themselves.

UK, Seems that I read somewhere recently that the "Gonzaga effect" is the reason for this. The other schools in the conference are boosting their athletic budgets etc. in order to duplicate the "Zags" success.UK Peregrine wrote:Well of course it's easy to fire this Ben Holland guy. I don't know why I didn't give credit for this the other day when I read it, but that's pretty damn funny.San Diego Falcon wrote:Sometimes he goes by Brad Netherlands.

There's a very good reason why we can't fire coaches here:
Small budget due to fielding a 1A football team, hockey, and basketball.
