Why would the Browns take Peterson when they just got Lewis?

Because Lewis is not very good, old for his age, and has a good chance of being in jail this time next year.

Their last name isn't the only thing they have in common. Of course, the Browns' lewis just sells drugs, while Ray-Ray kills people.

Jamal Lewis was signed as a stop gap, one year deal. Hopefully they'll strike it rich and he'll resurrect his career. More likely they bring in a young kid in the draft that they groom this year before he takes over the following season.

No matter how much Jamal Lewis has dropped off in the last 3 years he is STILL better than Droughns, IMO.

That's a bit hyperbolic don't you think? I'm a HUGE Peterson fan, but Calvin Johnson is a better player. I'd rather have the RB, but Calvin is also a big time prospect.

I'm not a fan of either Russell or Quinn really, but if you think there is a franchise QB is available you must take him over the RB as well.

There are a number of top notch prospects in this draft. The Browns are in a position to draft one of them. Personally if they take Russell, Quinn, Peterson, or Johnson I'd be pretty happy. "All Day" is my favorite player of the group, but they're all fair selections, IMO.

Heard a little bit of John Clayton on ESPN radio this afternoon. He said he thinks the Browns are now looking to take Quinn at three. He also said he expects Lewis to be more productive in Cleveland than he was in Baltimore.

Here's a thought... Could the Browns be looking at someone like Michael Bush? His injury status has knocked him down a bit and who knows what he can give you next season. They bring in Lewis for 2007, but draft Bush in the 2nd (he won't last until the third, will he?) and nurse him along this year and then hand him and Quinn the reins in 2008.

I know this is hopeful, but how would this offense look in 2008:
QB - Quinn
RB - M. Bush
WR - Braylon and ? (early draft pick next spring?)
TE - Winslow
Line - Bentley, Steinbach, Schaffer, Tucker, OG they draft in round 3 this year.

I'm not expecting much, but what's the word on Tim Carter, from the Droughns deal?

Also, I heard (news to me!) that Northcutt bailed for JAX (right?), so who fills the "six yard catch on third and 9" role? Does Cribbs see more time at WR now? And what about Jurevicius?

EDIT: I just realized you're referring to '08, but my question(s) for '07 still stand(s). :D

ok, so the charges were dropped. not that he necessarily did it, but people "being in the wrong place at the wrong time" trouble me, especially when human life is lost.

Anyhow

I'm still of the belief that they are drafting Adrian Peterson. Lewis' deal is 1 year. I don't think he's in Cleveland in '08. You want to a have a veteran RB to work with the rookie, as not many rookies can take an 16 game NFL pounding right off the bat, especially one who had trouble taking a 13 game Big 12 pounding injury-free.

The other reason is, I feel that Romeo Crennel needs to go at least 8-8 this year to keep his job, and possibly better. A rookie QB is not going to be the way to do this. I feel they should go after Trent Green in a trade. Not that he's a great QB, but he's got veteran savvy, and more passing yards over the last few years (excluding the concussion year in 06) than any QB not named Peyton Manning. When you need to win now, get a veteran, and get him some offensive weapons. I say get Adrian Peterson, and try to get a Steve Smith of USC in the 2nd, or go Calvin Johnson and try to get Michael Bush as someone suggested.

Question....Someone listed Bentley as a projected offensive starter for this year. I was under the impression he would still be out from the knee/staph infection issues of last year. Anyone know for sure?

Warthog listed him as a projected starter for 2008. Although, honestly I would be SHOCKED if Bentley ever plays another down.

As for Ray Lewis, I don't think he kills people. That said, I will take it to my grave that I think he KNOWS who killed those people and lied to protect his "posse".

Yep, I was looking ahead a year because I know Bentley definitely won't play in 2007. I know it is doubtful that he ever plays again, but I was trying to have a positive outlook and look at what potentially could be there in 2008.
