NFL player arrested in Ybor City

Tampa, Florida - Tampa Police arrested a Jacksonville Jaguars Wide Receiver in Ybor City Saturday night.

Officers with the department's "Q.U.A.D." squad, say they smelled burning marijuana coming from a new Chevy Tahoe parked in a lot at East 8th Avenueand North 20th Street.

Inside the SUV, they say they found NFL player Charles Sharon, 23, behind the wheel, and underneath his seat, a stolen gun.

Passenger Jebidiah Crawford, 21, reportedly had loose marijuana on his lap.

Officers searched the SUV and say they found more marijuana in a Jacksonville Jaguars duffel bag, which the passenger claimed was his.

Sharon was charged with Grand Theft of a Firearm and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

Jebidiah was charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Investigators say the Glock Model 27 handgun was stolen from an Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm's Agent in Putnam County in 2006.

Well that sucks. It would be a shame if this dooms his entire NFL future. Being an undrafted free agent is like being a walk-on, you don't exactly have much room for error, there are 10,000 athletes waitng for your spot. Sharon is a very good player, but not irreplaceable. This incident makes him totally expendable. Too bad.

Wow. Smoking pot is one thing, but the whole gun thing is just stupid.

Maybe the Bengals will trade for him?

Yikes!!! I wonder why they chagred him with grand theft of a firearm and not recieving stolen property. Did he make some incriminating statement?

Either way...this does not look good for Chuck at all

That really sucks. I just hope it doesn't destroy his future and also hope it doesn't reflect badly upon BGSU.

The charges alone will completely destroy his NFL future. I doubt that it would reflect badly on our University, except of course perhaps some UT fans poking fun at us :(

I find it VERY doubtful that you'll get your way into a camp when you're facing felony charges. With the black eye the league has been taking in recent years (justifiably so, IMO), I think teams will be less willing to take on people with these sorts of criminal charges hanging of their heads. When you're just an UDFA trying to get on a roster? Yeah, good luck with that.

Sh*t. I didn't think Chuck would be the type to do this. It shouldn't reflect badly on BGSU. He hasn't played for BGSU in 2 years.

Don't you mean Belmore? That's where all the pot in Putnam County comes from, isn't it?
