That's how I feel. The weed stuff is disappointing enough that someone would throw away their potential for something that results in a slap on the wrist from the league in most cases, but the gun is a serious deal that could screw up a lot more than just his NFL chances...

OH F- NO! There goes my boy... DANGIT! Im so mad and surprised I don't know what to say... Wow so much for my avatar and my poster of him making that sick catch to win the game here at Purdue. I swear there are no good male role models in professional sports, I just keep praying everyday that my boy Tiger Woods won't do something like this!
4th & 13 on PU 32yd line.. 56,000 fans up on their feet screaming, i held my breath the entire play trying to make as little noise as possible.. wouldnt u know Sharon would make the biggest touchdown catch in the history of BG Football, FALCON UP!

Sure. However, I've NEVER had a gun in my car, and never will. You don't need them, unless you're hunting... and even then I think it would be a lot more fair if you:

A: Trained the animals to shoot a gun at you, or
B: Fight the animal in question hand-to-hand/paw/mouth/etc.

Lets see how "powerful" you are then.

Sorry, end of rant.

Like I said, I was not excusing anything he did. It is completely unnecessary and no reason he needs to have a gun. With that said, I have a hard time believing that Charles Sharon stole a gun. I have met the guy several times and he just does not seem to be the type that would even carry a gun. All I am saying is I will wait to make my judgements till the whole story is out....but then again, what fun would this board be if noone jumped the gun with their judgements :)

Well... guess what folks... people aren't always how they appear. Some nice guys are really dirty aweful people who do stupid things for selfish reasons. Don't rationalize that this kid has never done this before... if he is 24 years old and smoking pot.. it isn't the first time... if he has a gun in the car... it wasn't the wasn't the first time...

THIS IS JUST THE FIRST TIME HE GOT CAUGHT.

Unless you have specific knowledge of other incidents you should probably back off on the assumptions. I know it's realllllllly hard to resist the tempation to preach and moralize from behind the bully pulpit of the keyboard....but gee whiz, you really ought try.

And change your avatar to George St Pierre. Matt Hughes is so....2005

Lets assume it was his first time smoking Mary Jane... why the hell would you do it when it could jeopardize your career like Ricky Williams... only... CS isn't Ricky Williams?

Take off the Burnt Orange and Seal Brown glasses and realize he f'd up, and it wasn't the first time. Much like your QB who was caught smoking up last year.

I don't do French... and I certainly don't do French Canadian.... Ugh St. Pierre...

I never said it was his first time smoking pot. I dont think anyone said that and to be honest I dont really care. He coulda smoked pot the whole time was at BG for all I know. But then again I am sure there are alot of guys on our current team that do too. That goes for every school!! Kids are going to be kids when it comes to experimenting with drugs and alcohol. NO THIS DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT BUT ITS REALITY FOLKS!!! And NO im not saying players shouldnt be punished for doing such things, but come on guys, open your eyes....

Now the gun thing, that is a completely different offense. There is no excuse to be carrying a gun unless you have a licensed reason for having it. All I am saying is, lets hear the whole story and then make all the judgements you want.

There sure is a reason for having one...lots some are...THE POLICE CAN NOT PROTECT YOU, its not their job. The 2nd amendment guarantees the Individual right to keep and bare and arms...all laws post that are violations...much as a law reducing the freedom of the press or free speech and assembly would be.
Now in your defense...if chuck felt he needed a gun for protection...he could have bought a gun legally for starters...so this makes not even as smart as the bug under a rock, and two FL will give an emergency permit, until a permanent permit is finalized with in 24 hrs of applying. This makes a criminal, the proof is in the numerous illegal actions...and anyone who has drugs is a total moron...anyone who has an illegeal gun with drugs is the ring in a toilet.
he will be holding someones belt loop real soon...maybe Claretts.

I didn't say he was innocent...I didn't say he was guilty. But..I'd love to know how far the cops were from the vehicle when they "Smelled" the marijuana. Did they really smell it...or did they just sling a line of BS after the fact too establish probable cause. Why did they charge him with theft of a firearm when he was simply in possession of a gun stolen a year ago? Sounds llike they might have filed the stiffest charge they could have...maybe they did that to obsucre the fact that the whole search was predicated on bs?

I'm not saying anything about this until more info comes out...too many little wrinkles that might lead to a whole 'nother outcome.

So far as GSP goes...like it or not..he's the man right now.

***edit***

the gun was under the seat of the truck he was driving...was it his truck? wa s he in posession if he didn't place the gun there?

Well, I think what I was mostly getting at was the whole stealing the gun part. Thank you for clarifying some things though, I am no expert with firearms. I have never even held one and dont agree with carrying a concealed weapon. And when it gets in the hands of the wrong person, such as people who have stolen them or bought them from someone who stole it, then bad things happen. For example, the cop that was shot and killed in toledo recently.

Can we take the 2nd Amendment argument to the Free-For-All? His "rights" are not in question here (unless of course the accusations are true). This shouldn't turn into a political circle jerk.

I'm just going to wait to see what new information comes out.

Wassamatter? Is the hippie afraid of the bourgeoisie being armed? Are you afraid that might subvert your Marxist/Leninist aims?

I hope this garbage isn't true. If it is, the NFL just lost an aspiring young talent.
