Being involved with BGSU basketball has been a wonderful part of my life and I thank you and the entire administration for the support throughout these ten years. BGSU will have no bigger fan than the entire Dakich family.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Dakich

Very classy of Dan, which is no surprise to me. Good luck wherever you end up CoachTG1996 wrote:Here's his resignation letter to Christopher.

Google shows nothing, but this (CTRL-F till you find "Walker") doesn't sound too hot on his coaching skills:Dayons_Den wrote:What has Rich Walker been up to lately? I lost track of him since he was at Iowa?

Then again, what do bloggers know?

I mean this in all honesty, but is it possible that Dakich could stick around in an administrative role for the AD? I understand that he'll probably be looking for a coaching job somewhere, but I think it'd be interesting to see him in the AD somewhere. If not this I wonder how he would do in the broadcast world?
I know this is a slim chance, but I got the feeling from his letter that he'd be open to staying in BG.

Better get him on satellite, or the FCC would have a field day.BGDrew wrote:If not this I wonder how he would do in the broadcast world?

I would caution Dan to take his time and not jump on the first thing that comes along. To wit, those "handle medical claims from home" and "secret shopper" jobs that show up in the want ads are often scams.
I would also caution him against attempting to fly to Nigeria to pick up lottery winnings or to help settle the estate of some dead guy who died rich and heirless. Those are also scams.

I think you are reading a little too much into it. He was being classy, but I would be shocked if he doesn't want another shot at coaching.BGDrew wrote:I mean this in all honesty, but is it possible that Dakich could stick around in an administrative role for the AD? I know he wants to coach, just thinking aloud.

For all of the frustration of the past few seasons, for me, this is a sad day. I wish Dan nothing but the best, and I hope that there is no bigger fan of Dan Dakich than Bowling Green State University in the future.
Best of luck, coach. And thanks.

This was a quick about-face from last week.
Last week: "I'm going to continue as though I'm the coach. I want to be here." (paraphrase)
This week: "I don't want to be considered for an extension."
Translation: Christopher gave me two options.

I wish Dan and his family nothing but the best.
But... Why does everyone think this is so classy? Yes, the letter was very well written and certainly heart-felt. But I think he may be just beating Christopher to the punch. Now he can always say he resigned and was never fired. I mean, what makes anyone think Christopher was even considering an extension anyway? Better yet, maybe our AD did the classy thing here and told Dan the situation and let him 'resign' instead of going through the process of not being extended. Just food for thought.
