You may be on to something there, Nathan.... ;-)

I hope so. The pattern fits, and there are no indications that Christopher was brought into his job to mind the shop. He is here to DO something. So with that said, I'm off to restart and old topic.....

I would also caution him against attempting to fly to Nigeria to pick up lottery winnings or to help settle the estate of some dead guy who died rich and heirless. Those are also scams.

NWLB wrote:Lets leave it as this: Dan got to leave with his head up. No dark rumors or talk as his "review" came up. He knew this was coming, either because he isn't dumb, or he was communicating plainly with the AD from the start.

Now aside from the new coaching search, another logical question:

With Dakich gone, a fast moving, money hunting AD in control, and a new coach coming, will we see a convo center finally announced?

It seems to me, that this is the "clean break" and PR launching point to start work on replacing what WILL BE a major issue with any top flight canidates. I've felt Dakich was an issue and reason for not announcing the project for a few years now.
That and those darn Sebos. I heard "they" duidn't want to dilute the fundraising for the Sebo Center. Now if Ice Hockey slips in front of the Convo/AA rehab I'm really gonna have to find another team. Maybe Miami :-)

The last women's game showed how stupid BGSU is. Here's an arena in the middle of campus and a green space just north of the arena that does absolutely nothing and they couldn't figure out to throw down some stones and make a temporary parking lot?

At $3 or $5 a car, they could PAY for the stones.

You stay classy, Planet Earth...
Haha...at the very moment I was reading your post, the final song played in the film Anchorman was playing on the radio. Random.

And yes, the letter was very classy. I don't know why some people need to STILL be negative. The man is no longer our coach. It's what you wanted. Don't kick him while he's down by saying his motives were only to save face. He could've pulled an Urban Meyer and just left without a word. He is a class act, and I completely agree with what Grant has to say about each of you.

With 3 Missouri Valley openings, another in the MAC and Marshall all announcing ahead of us, this was well overdue as has been stated many many times. With that said, I think Dan and everyone else ultimately knew of his fate long before last week.

He is able to walk away and will be able to land as a high-major assistant or a job similar to BG in the future.

The names from JoeFalcon's list that are intriguing are:
-John Groce, although I maintain that we cannot afford him
-Kevin Williard, his demons seem to be behind him and he would be an interesting hire due to his college and pro background and East Coast recruiting ties

Other names that come to mind again are
-Geno Ford
-Mark Montgomery
-Cuonzo Martin
-Pete Gillen, longshot of the bunch

He knew the situation and took the proper path. I am not kicking anyone. He didn't get fired, the AD didn't have to fire him. The situation was handled with as much dignity as is possible, given the circumstances.

Please be honest, do you really think Dakich chose not to ask for an extension? It's a delicate situation and this avenue allowed everyone to come off looking as best they could. It was the correct way to handle it, given the AD was probably not going to offer an extension.

Laugh if you want, we'll see.

Or maybe I have it backward. Maybe the Eastern Oregon's coach is comg to BG.

Just for consideration, I'll now throw out Marshall, Indiana State and New Mexico as other possible landing spots.

He will most likely coach in a NCAA Tournament before BGSU plays in one. In a few years, George Mason might pay its' assistants as much as BG pays its' HC.

Good. I'm glad it is over and BG can look forward instead of having to worry about losing players, etc... that goes with Dan. Though I am happy to see the players graduated, who stay here....

Dan leaving on his own terms. Imagine that...
