I remember Orr described as a "6'9" string bean" when he was a player. lol
Let's hope the AD from Purdue gives fair consideration to all parties and doesn't favor a Purdue guy he just left 6 months ago or so....

I agree with that. And I hope we don't pick a person of color just to pick a person of color. If that is the best candidate, I am good with that. But I don't want that issue to give someone a head start on the rest of the field.

Careful there, the PC crowd may start calling you a racist...I agree with that. And I hope we don't pick a person of color just to pick a person of color. If that is the best candidate, I am good with that. But I don't want that issue to give someone a head start on the rest of the field.

Yeah, let's just nip this whole conversation in the bud and assume the best available candidate will get the job.

Respectfully submitted.

My prediction on the new coach.
A coach will be hired. There will be a lukewarm feeling from some feeling like we did not do the best job searching for a perfect candidate and settled for an easy one. Others will be incredibly optimistic and feel the new coach is a great hire for reasons that are not really measurable but that all fans have for their teams when they make such changes.
The coach will come in. With a more veteran team he will either...
1) have success with a core of Ryne Hamblet(sr), Nate Miller(Jr) & Eric Marshall (Jr). One of Polk, Clements or Moten will step up leaving fans wondering if Dakich hampered their development. They will say "Imagine when he gets his own players in here."
2)We will not have success next year and fans will blame Dakiches recruiting. They will say we need to have patience with this coach and that he needs time to get his players here and turn things around.
New coaches, draft picks and recruits all are greeted the same way.

I'd like to see us go after a young assistant at a larger program. It worked with Curt Miller.

Assuming that a change in direction of the coaching staff will automatically put us near competitive levels with the rest of the MAC is wishful thinking at best and probably more consistent with absurd or asinine.
Ladies and gentlemen, this team is simply not that good. Sure there will be opportunities that previously did not exist for some players, however, by and large, most of these guys are not incredibly athletic, we do not have a proven scorer on the roster and we have major holes at what I would view as the two most important postions in the MAC, point guard and power forward. Offensively, Erik Marschall can play with most 4's in the MAC. Defensively, I have yet to find one that he can come close to matching up with. I would classify that as a major hole. Hamblet is more of a two-guard and Nate Miller, while solid is not the Messiah many make him out to be. He gets probably the most of his talent of the guys we have though.
The real test comes in 2 years when the new coach is given 5 new scholarships to bring much needed fresh faces into the situation.

I can't imagine having to pronounce the name Cuonzo on a regular basis.
Fortunately, that is all I have to offer to this conversation.
