UAO Bus Trip?

Post by Peregrinner »

Despite the statement in all of the athletic department releases, apparently you can (in a roundabout way) get your tickets other than through MSU's office.
UAO/OCI is sponsoring a bus trip that includes round-trip transportation, the cost of the ticket, a pre-game rally and a lunch for only $23.

I have to admit I'm a little frustrated about the wording of the releases, what with the "GET YOUR TICKETS QUICKLY!" and the "You MUST purchase them through MSU's office."

Seeing as I'm flat effing broke and I need to conserve cash as much as possible, I'm now stuck trying to cancel my order through MSU so I can ride along with UAO/OCI. The only thing that worries me is that last season the very same bus ride was cancelled the day before the game on account of lack of interest. Fortunately last year they allowed the few of us who signed up to ride along with the Falcon Club, but I have to wonder if the same will happen this year.

Either way, I thought I'd get the word out. Deadline to sign up is some time tomorrow. The girl in answering the phones for OCI wasn't sure, but she said she thought 5:00. I'd play on the safe side and assume it's earlier than that.

Yeah, just saw this on the on page 14 of the today's BGNews. The BG students need to take advantage of this.

It's UAO, I wouldn't hold our breath that will ever happen.

I was right to assume the deadline is much earlier than 5. Deadline is noon tomorrow.

What I want to know is why on earth the UAO bus is leaving at 8:30am on Sunday morning. WTF are we leaving so early? What are we gonna do with about 3 1/2 hours of downtime once we get to East Lansing?

By the time the bus actually leaves, and then gets there, it'll be pretty close to 11:30. The Vandy game starts @ noon.

well there is a pep rally thing at 11:30am at the hotel, so i'm sure that is why, they want you guys at the pep rally, plus it says lunch is included. So that gives you time to eat lunch

Sounds like the same thing happened as last year. Got a call this morning that we'll be riding along with the Falcon Club once again. Oh well, at least I still get to go!

Yup, I got that call this afternoon. I talked with a guy inside the office of campus involvement today, and he seems to think that the 8:30am leave time on Sunday morning caused many prospective students to not go on the UAO bus. Personally, I don't see why the bus is leaving so early, so that doesn't surprise me.

I've never been to East Lansing, but passed through there en route to Mount Pleasant in October. This will be a new experience, hopefully a great one thanks to a win.

well i took a bus here yesterday, it took us about 2.5 hours. there was an accident so that is why a little longer, but i can see why 8:30, if you leave at 8:30, that would be a 11am arrive time. 11:30am is the start of the pep rally, that gives you a half hour of time in case of traffic or other problems gettting here. so i can understand the 8:30 leave time. they could of made the students not be able to go to the pep rally and left later, but i think they want you all to enjoy this great experience

I guess nobody wanted to go to the pep rally. I don't mind, as long as it doesn't drag on too long.
