Since the game will still be at East Lansing, I believe you will need to buy your tickets through their ticket office again requesting the BGSU section.

Yeah -- I just rewatched it. That didn't warrant a tech unless Amber had been barking at her a lot, which wasn't the case. amber said something under her breat while looking away, and the ref WALKED BACK TOWARDS HER, stared at a silent Amber, waited a sec, and then teed her up.factman wrote:Amber got T'd because she said that 's BS ( which it was). She did not show up[ the official nor was she even looking at her when she said it. It must be close to Easter, because that official had BIG rabbitt ears!!
Of course, we got the big tech at the end, so that evened out too.
By the way, I counted double digit elbows/cheap shots by the dirty, dirty cowgirls.

So much to say.......
First off -- this was one of those days that I just know I'll remember for the rest of my life. Being a part of that sea of orange was absolutely phenomenal. Great seats, great atmosphere, great crowd, cheering a great team on to a great win. Can't ask for anything more. When the final buzzer sounded, my eyes teared up a little. I just felt so good for that entire team to cap off some stellar careers with AT LEAST 1 NCAA win. I'm sure they want more, and I know we all do too.
Officiating -- it was poor to say the least, and OSU got the better of it most of the day. Great teams can fight through stuff like that, and we are most definitely watching a great team here. It was an ugly game, and we did what we had to.
Crowd -- Amazing. Kudos to everyone that was there. THAT'S how I want AA to look. sound, and feel for every home game.
OSU played hard, and a little on the dirty side, but they were getting away with it, so it was mostly smart dirty. I have no clue why Amber or their girl got teed up, so I'm getting ready to watch the replay on Tivo to analyze the game a bit more.
Wow. Just, wow. Awesome day to be a Falcon.
AY-ZIGGY-ZOOMBA, BITCHES!!!
Same here JH4, I was so freakin exciting actually being there and seeing a real nice contingent of orange all over.

The official that t'd Amber up looked MAD right afterwards...she was angrier than anyone of our ladies. It's pretty sad when the players are more in control of their emotions than the officialsJacobs4Heisman wrote:Yeah -- I just rewatched it. Fact of the matter is.....the ref blew the call. It WAS an offensive foul..Riley knew it....and her reaction was just as much frustration with herself as it ws putting on a show to complain about a bad call. The technical was a total gift but justification considering it was a blown call.
The elbows and other cheap shots and overall bully tactics were pretty bad. I keep thinking though that if the refs had established tighter boundries at the beginning of the game (calling something for the terrible elbow Ali took for example), the Cowgirls would have played cleaner but they were allowed to play the way they did and took advantage of it. They beat Kate up. Almost ltterally. I'll bet it shocked them that she just kept getting up and coming back for more.....a full 40 minutes worth of coming right back for whatever they had to dish out. She may look petite...but pound for pound, I'd challenge anyone to name a tougher player in the MAC.....possibly in the country. She showed great restraint too. I watched the game with my brother and he pointed out 3 or 4 times where he thought Kate looked like she was capable of throwing a punch at Riley. Each time, she just took a deep breath and walked away.
Did you see the play early in the game where Goldsberry got jacked in the jaw and got called for commiting the foul herself? I know for sure that at that moment, if I was in Curt's shoes, I'd have been rung up with a T just to get someone's attention (players, refs, opponents....take your pick). Guess that's why I'm on a message board and he's a hot commodity head coach.

I don't even know what to say. For that team to fight through all the crap that went on with today's game and still find a way to win really says a lot about that whole team/staff. They know how to win and they want it BAD.
I'm so happy for them to have taken this next step. What an incredible season, and here's to a few more games!

What's more is, after the first time, on the very next possession, it happened AGAIN, and the refs still didn't call it right.greg1 wrote:Did you see the play early in the game where Goldsberry got jacked in the jaw and got called for commiting the foul herself? Greg -- that same lady ref that T'd up Amber was screaming at Miller to stay in the coaching box early in the game. He was giving her the normal politicking, and she wasn't taking it well at all, losing her cool and making big hand gestures at Miller. I have no doubt that led partially to Amber's T.
That official was poor to say the least. Her emotions got the better of her, which is the cardinal sin of officiating.

Went to East Lansing with the Falcon Club. What a great game. I was really worried when we were down 26-12. I remembered back to last years game and how we were overmatched. They were being really physical with us and tried hard to get us out of our game. But we played really well in the 2nd half, made some big shots, and came away with the victory. All in all, that had to have been one of the best BG sporting events I've ever been to.
Great win, hopefully we can beat Vanderbilt on Tuesday

I am extremely proud of our Lady Falcons for two major reasons. The first one is being the "bigger" woman and not letting their emotions take over, thus playing like the team they are. The second reason is that through all the crap that was thrown their way, they pulled out the W. Anything else that I have on my mind about this game has already been said several times.
Congratulations Ladies!!
BRING ON VANDERBILT!!
Oh, and since Ohio State lost, does this mean that we are better than them? in theory of course?

With a name like Slugathor, I would think you'd love it!Slugathor wrote:Well, let's be realistic. Anyone who's scouted BG knows that we are short-handed. It's pretty clear that if they "take out" a player or two, they can shift the odds. I really don't like it that women's basketball is turning into a slugfest.
Wow. There isn't much more that can be said. I thought the championship game this year was as good as it gets - I was wrong. This was - and I hope I'm wrong about that, too! I'm not going to say much about the officiating, because most of it has already been said.*
What made today so special, to me, was watching experience determine the outcome of the game. As the second half wore on, in every respect, it was clear that BG was much more composed and much more confident. When Kate was shooting her technical shots in the last minute, she had this 'been there, done that' look on her face. Not in a smug way, but in a calm, cool, and confident way. It was awesome. OSU is talented, but they lack control and they play with an arrogance that I can only think comes from their coach telling them "you are king sh*t, and you will act like king sh*t." I got the same feeling from BSU last week. I understand that as a motivational tactic, but I don't think it is really effective in cultivating anything even close to the team identity that Miller's style does.
I am so proud of these girls for gutting this win out, especially given the circumstances that have developed over the past few weeks. Their ability to overcome adversity late in the season, in my opinion, will be one of the first things mentioned when history recalls how truly great this team was. I was too light-headed from screaming and yelling to cry when the game ended, but I have to admit that as I write this I am tearing up a bit.
Highlight of the expereince - I sat right along the tunnel into the BG lockeroom, and getting to watch the team leave the court after the game and watch the smiles on their faces as we exchanged fives was so very cool. Ali was being interviewed on the court for a while and was the last to go into the lockeroom. As she approached the tunnel everyone around started yelling, and we all put our hands down. She had a kind of serious look on her face, pointed up at all of us, got a running start, and started swinging her hands at ours as she did a 360. When she landed she yelled "thank you!" and pointed up to the fans before she ran into the lockeroom. It was so unbelievably awesome to see a player, that deseveres to be so much, that happy!
* - The one thing I will point out is, that as OSU was moving the ball down the floor at one point in the first half (can't remember when, exactly) not only did Liz (or maybe Golds?) get a severe elbow to the face, Kate was literally thrown to the floor a second or two later. As you guessed, nothing was called. I've never in my life, at any level of basketball, seen anything like that.
